  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Orioles transferred Blewett (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday. The right-hander has been sidelined by elbow discomfort since July 13, and he now won't be eligible to be reinstated until mid-September. Blewett has pitched for three MLB clubs this season and has a combined 5.48 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 35:18 K:BB over 44.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Cleared to start throwing

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Aug. 6 that Blewett (elbow) has resumed playing catch, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Blewett was placed on the 15-day injured list July 13 due to right elbow discomfort and was set to receive a second opinion on his injury later that month before a decision on his treatment plan was made. Evidently, Blewett received favorable news from doctors, as he wasn't recommended to stop throwing for an extended period. That said, Blewett had yet to resume throwing off a mound since Mansolino provided the latest update on his status, so the righty reliever's return from the IL wouldn't appear to be imminent.

  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Shelved with elbow injury

The Orioles placed Blewett on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right elbow discomfort. The injury presumably surfaced during Blewett's appearance in a 6-0 loss to the Marlins on Saturday, when he surrendered four runs over one inning. Catcher David Banuelos was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move.

  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Working as opener

Blewett will serve as the Orioles' opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Angels, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Blewett opened a game for Atlanta back in April and will now do so for Baltimore in Sunday's series finale. The right-hander has covered two or more frames in eight of his 17 appearances this season, so he could be capable of giving the Orioles around three innings Sunday. Cade Povich, who was previously scheduled to start, is likely to follow Blewett in bulk relief.

  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Activated ahead of Sunday's game

Baltimore activated Blewett in advance of Sunday's matchup versus the Athletics. After the Orioles traded Blewett to Atlanta in late April, the teams engaged in another trade Friday to send the right-hander back to Baltimore. In a corresponding move to Blewett's activation, Matt Bowman was designated for assignment.

  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Shipped back to O's

Baltimore acquired Blewett from Atlanta on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. The right-hander was set to be designated for assignment by Atlanta after giving up five earned runs over 1.1 innings Thursday versus Arizona, but he'll instead be sent to the Orioles. Even with that ugly performance, Blewett has a 3.91 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB across 25.1 innings this season. He appeared in two games for the Orioles in April before being dealt to Atlanta.

  • Braves' Scott Blewett: Goes three innings

Blewett allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one in three innings Tuesday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision. Blewett gave Atlanta two scoreless innings, but Lars Nootbaar took him deep for a two-run shot in the third when facing him for a second time. Three innings marked Blewett's longest appearance this season, all of which have lasted more than an inning. He owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB in 12 innings this season.

The 29-year-old Blewett pitched 4.1 innings over his two appearances for the O's, allowing one unearned run while striking out six batters and walking one. He now owns a 1.00 ERA and 11:1 K:BB through nine frames on the season and could receive interest on the waiver wire.
