  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Outrighted to Triple-A

Haase cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Haase was designated for assignment Monday after the Brewers acquired Danny Jansen to take over as their backup backstop. The 32-year-old will stick with the organization and serve as catching depth at Nashville.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Designated for assignment

The Brewers designated Haase for assignment Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. With Danny Jansen joining the Brewers via trade with Tampa Bay, the Brewers needed to create a 40-man roster spot, and Haase is the odd man out in Milwaukee. Haase slashed .229/.289/.357 with two home runs, nine RBI, 11 runs scored and a 4:31 BB:K across 77 plate appearances this season.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Starting behind plate Sunday

Haase will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Marlins. William Contreras will stick in the lineup at designated hitter in a rare day off from catching, allowing Haase to enter the starting nine for just the 16th time all season. Haase carries a .224/.278/.358 slash line into Sunday's contest.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Picking up rare start

Haase will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta. Though top backstop William Contreras remains in the lineup Wednesday, he's serving as the Brewers' designated hitter, which opens a starting role up for Haase in the series finale. Haase will be making his first start since June 4 and just his second since May 27, as Contreras continues to shoulder one of the heavier workloads among all catchers in the big leagues.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Goes yard Wednesday

Haase went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Astros. The 32-year-old spoiled Framber Valdez's shutout bid by taking the lefty deep in the fifth inning. Haase has seen infrequent playing time so far this season, but he's been productive when called up, batting .292 (7-for-24) with two homers, four RBI and six runs in 13 games. With William Contreras attempting to play through a fractured finger in his glove hand, Haase's usage could be set to tick up.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Pops homer in team's first win

Haase went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Royals. With William Contreras serving as the Brewers' designated hitter, Haase picked up his first start of the season behind the dish. Haase provided some pop at the bottom of the order, putting Milwaukee on the board with a 419-foot blast off Michael Lorenzen in the third inning. Despite playing a big part in the leading the Brewers to their first win of 2025, Haase will likely see scant playing time during his second season in Milwaukee with Contreras coming off an All-Star campaign.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Avoids arbitration

The Brewers and Haase avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.35 million contract Friday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. Haase had been in his second year of arbitration eligibility. The 31-year-old slashed .273/.304/.515 with five homers in 30 games with the Brewers this season and is slated to open the 2025 campaign as William Contreras' backup.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Goes yard Sunday

Haase went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks. Haase did damage in the sixth inning with a two-run blast to left off of Kevin Ginkel. It was his second time with three hits in a game this season and second home run over his last three starts. He's made just three starts since the beginning of September and is up to five homers, 13 RBI and nine runs scored for the year.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Seeing limited run at catcher

Haase remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. Haase has started just once in the Brewers' last 12 games and is the clear No. 3 catcher on the roster behind All-Star William Contreras and Gary Sanchez. Until the Brewers formally clinch a spot in the postseason and their playoff seeding is locked in, Haase is unlikely to receive steady at-bats.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Goes deep twice

Haase went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI Sunday against the Twins. Haase picked up his sixth start with the Brewers since having his contract selected from Triple-A on June 26 and posted his first multi-homer game since 2022 when he was with the Tigers. In just 21 at-bats, Haase has a .429 average with three dingers and eight RBI. He does have a 20-homer season to his credit from back in 2021, so while it's unlikely that he'll maintain this pace, his offensive reemergence could afford the Brewers the opportunity to give William Contreras a little extra rest and help keep him fresh through the second half of the season.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Gets sixth start of season

Haase will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Twins. Haase has now started in just six of the Brewers' 19 games since he was called up from Triple-A Nashville on June 26. Though his playing time is expected to remain sparse while All-Star catcher William Contreras is healthy, Haase has made the most of his limited opportunities thus far, going 6-for-17 with a home run, a walk, five RBI and two runs through his first five games with Milwaukee.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Gets call to majors

The Brewers selected Haase's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Haase will serve as the Brewers' backup at catcher to William Contreras while Gary Sanchez (calf) is on the 10-day injured list and could see occasional starts at designated hitter versus left-handed pitching. The 31-year-old has an .870 OPS with nine home runs in 165 plate appearances at Nashville this season.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Brewers outrighted Haase to Triple-A Nashville on Monday after he cleared waivers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Haase could have declined the assignment and become a free agent, but that would have meant forfeiting his $1 million salary. Instead, he will report to Nashville, where he will give the club quality catching depth.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: DFA'd by Crew

The Brewers designated Haase for assignment Thursday. Haase turned a lot of heads during camp this spring, slashing .395/.465/.868 with five homers and 14 RBI across 43 plate appearances. However, the Brewers didn't want to carry a third catcher behind William Contreras and Gary Sanchez, so the team will instead attempt to pass Haase through waivers. The 31-year-old backstop only managed a .201 average and .528 OPS with the Tigers and Guardians last season, but other organizations may be willing to take a chance on him after his monster spring.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Unlikely to make roster

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday in an interview with 97.3 The Game Milwaukee that the team is leaning toward carrying two catchers, which would leave Haase without a roster spot. Haase has had a terrific spring, but he's a difficult fit on Milwaukee's roster with William Contreras and Gary Sanchez around. The Brewers could draw interest in Haase via trade, but otherwise Milwaukee could try to pass him through waivers and stash him at Triple-A Nashville.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Pushing for roster spot

Haase went 15-for-38 (.395) with five home runs, three doubles, 14 RBI, 11 runs and a 5:6 BB:K over 18 games this spring. Haase joined the Brewers over the offseason after splitting the 2023 campaign with the Tigers and Guardians, and he made just about as good of an impression as he could during the exhibition season. Fellow backstops William Contreras and Gary Sanchez are locked in, the Brewers would need to open the season with three catchers to get Haase onto the 26-man roster. However, given the way he hit this spring, they may opt to do just that.

  • Brewers' Eric Haase: Signs with Milwaukee

Haase agreed to a one-year contract with the Brewers on Wednesday. Haase was outrighted off Cleveland's 40-man roster in early December and elected free agency after the season, and he's now found a home for 2024. The 31-year-old also has two years of club control beyond the upcoming campaign. He struggled to a .201/.247/.281 slash line last year but had a .746 OPS across the prior two seasons. Haase should serve as Milwaukee's No. 2 catcher behind starter William Contreras.

  • Eric Haase: Elects free agency

Haase elected to become a free agent Tuesday. Haase tallied 36 home runs in 208 games for the Tigers between the 2021-2022 seasons, but the 30-year-old catcher and corner outfielder stumbled to a .201/.247/.281 batting line across 293 major-league plate appearances in 2023.

  • Guardians' Eric Haase: Outrighted to Triple-A

Haase cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday. Haase lost his spot on the Guardians' 40-man roster, but it appears he will stick around in the organization. The 30-year-old has managed just a .528 OPS with four home runs in 89 games between the Tigers and Guardians in 2023.

  • Guardians' Eric Haase: Scooped up by Cleveland

The Guardians claimed Haase off waivers from the Tigers on Monday. After Detroit moved him off its 40-man roster last week, Haase will stick within the American League Central and begin his second stint in the Guardians organization after he was drafted by Cleveland in 2011 before being traded to the Tigers in 2020. Haase has no minor-league options remaining, so he'll join the 26-man active roster and will step in as the new No. 2 catcher behind Bo Naylor while Cam Gallagher (concussion) and David Fry (hamstring) are on the injured list. Prior to being cut by the Tigers, Haase slashed an abysmal .201/.246/.284 over 282 plate appearances on the season.
