Rowen announced his retirement Friday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Rowen returned to the majors for the first time since 2016 during the 2021 campaign, and he made eight appearances for the Angels. The right-hander made 20 relief appearances in the big leagues during his 12-year career and posted a 6.26 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 23 innings.

The right-hander was designated for assignment Wednesday but will remain in the organization after going through waivers unclaimed. Rowen surrendered seven runs on 12 hits with an 8:2 K:BB over 11.1 innings for the Angels.
