  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Eight Ks in five sterling innings

DeGrom didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Twins, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out eight. With the Rangers out of the playoff hunt, it wasn't surprising to see deGrom's night end after he threw only 74 pitches. However, it was still a fine performance from the All-Star right-hander, who tossed at least five frames while yielding one or zero runs for the 12th time in 30 outings this season. DeGrom isn't scheduled to pitch again this season, though fantasy managers have to be pleased by the fact that the oft-injured righty hurled 172.2 innings, his most since 2019. He'll close the campaign with an outstanding 2.97 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 185:37 K:BB.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Gives up five runs in loss

DeGrom (12-8) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six batters over five innings. DeGrom struggled from the outset, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk in the first inning. The veteran hurler then gave up a two-run homer in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth, marking the second time in his past three starts that he's yielded multiple long balls. DeGrom did record a decent 11 whiffs and six punchouts, but he continued what has been just a so-so second half. He didn't give up more than four runs in any of his 19 starts prior to the All-Star break, but in the second half he's allowed five runs on three separate occasions through 10 outings. That's brought his ERA up from 2.32 at the break to 3.01 after Wednesday's loss.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Nabs win in Citi Field return

DeGrom (12-7) picked up the win Friday, giving up three runs on four hits over seven innings in an 8-3 victory over the Mets. He struck out two without walking a batter. The veteran righty didn't display the same kind of dominance he possessed the last time he stepped on the mound at Citi Field at the end of the 2022 season while a member of the Mets -- deGrom managed to generate only five swinging strikes on 88 pitches (59 total strikes) -- but he didn't need to as the Rangers backed his revenge game with six runs in the top of the first inning. DeGrom was still plenty effective, retiring the final 15 batters he faced in his 14th quality start of the year, and he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his last six outings, posting a 2.91 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 36:6 K:BB in 34 innings over that stretch. He lines up to make his next start on the road next week in Houston as Texas tries to stay in the AL wild-card picture.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Saddled with loss against Astros

DeGrom (11-7) took the loss against the Astros on Saturday, surrendering three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings. DeGrom opened the night in dominant fashion, striking out the side in the first inning before a clean second, but his outing would unravel as the game went on. The right-hander gave up solo homers to Christian Walker in the third and Yordan Alvarez in the fifth before exiting in the sixth with two runners on, leaving him two outs shy of what would have been his first quality start since August 9. Despite piling up 47 strikeouts in his last seven outings, deGrom has dropped five of his six decisions during that span. The 37-year-old owns a 2.78 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 169:35 K:BB through 155.2 innings and will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the high-powered Mets.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Back in win column

DeGrom (11-6) picked up the win Sunday against the Athletics, allowing two hits and one walk with six strikeouts over five scoreless innings. DeGrom had taken a loss in each of his last four decisions, a five-start stretch in which he posted a 5.00 ERA and a 33:7 K:BB across 27 innings. He got back on track in a major way Sunday, hurling his second scoreless outing in his last 10 starts. On the year, deGrom has a 2.69 ERA and a 161:33 K:BB across 150.1 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Astros his next time out.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out seven in defeat

DeGrom (10-6) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings. After having his previous start skipped due to shoulder fatigue, deGrom looked healthy in throwing 90 pitches (56 strikes) over five frames. He pitched pretty well, racking up 15 whiffs and seven punchouts while allowing just two runs, but the Rangers couldn't back him up with any run support. Assuming deGrom recovers well from the start, there's no indication that he'll need to skip another turn in the rotation as the Rangers make a final push toward a wild-card spot. He's slated for a road matchup against the Athletics this weekend.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Cleared to start Monday

Manager Bruce Bochy announced Sunday that deGrom (shoulder) will start Monday's game against the Angels in Arlington, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. The veteran right-hander threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues, clearing the way for him to take the mound after having his previous start skipped as a precautionary measure due to shoulder fatigue. DeGrom's 24 starts and 140.1 innings this season are already his highest totals since 2019, and he's looked fully like his usual dominant self with a 2.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 148:30 K:BB.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Completes bullpen session

DeGrom (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday and isn't expected to miss another start, MLB.com reports. DeGrom skipped his previously scheduled start due to shoulder discomfort, which the team attributed more to workload than a legitimate injury. He's already tossed 140.1 innings this season, his most since 2019. DeGrom is tentatively expected to take the mound Monday at home against the Angels.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Slated for bullpen session Saturday

DeGrom (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. DeGrom's last start was skipped due to right shoulder fatigue, though the Rangers indicated the decision was made as much or more due to the pitcher's workload than injury. As long as deGrom gets through his bullpen session Saturday with no issues, he should start Monday's game against the Angels.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Start being skipped

GM Chris Young said the Rangers will skip deGrom's scheduled start Wednesday against the Royals due to right shoulder fatigue, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. The 37-year-old already returned to Texas to be evaluated and was cleared of any structural issues, but the Rangers will still manage his workload with deGrom's 140.1 innings this season being the first time he's cracked 100 frames since 2019. Assuming there's no further issues, the right-hander's next turn through the rotation tentatively lines up for Monday versus the Angels.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Blanks Jays in no-decision

DeGrom came away with a no-decision in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays, scattering two hits over five scoreless innings. He struck out five without walking a batter. The veteran right-hander didn't allow a runner to get past second base in a dominant effort, as he fired 59 of 84 pitches for strikes and left the mound with a 3-0 lead. It was a strong return to form for deGrom, who had been tagged for 13 runs in 17 innings over his prior three outings. He'll take a 2.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 148:30 K:BB through 140.1 innings on the season into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Kansas City.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Takes third straight loss

DeGrom (10-5) took the loss against Philadelphia on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings. DeGrom got through six scoreless innings but couldn't hold on in the seventh. In that frame, he got the first hitter out but then allowed the next three batters to reach base via a single, a walk and a two-run double. The third run against deGrom came after he left the contest. Though the All-Star hurler was ultimately tagged with his third straight defeat, this was at least a strong turnaround after he gave up 10 runs across 10.1 innings over his previous two starts. In addition to finishing with a quality start Saturday, deGrom also racked up an impressive 18 whiffs, so his stuff was mostly working despite the final outcome. He'll try to get back in the win column in what projects to be a road matchup in Toronto his next time out.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Hit hard again

DeGrom (10-4) took the loss Sunday against Seattle, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks across five innings. He struck out five. DeGrom has now allowed 10 homers across his last six starts after surrendering long balls to Jorge Polanco, Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford on Sunday. The 37-year-old has allowed five runs in back-to-back appearances after yielding more than three runs in just one of his first 21 outings. DeGrom will look to get back on track next time out, though he's tentatively scheduled for a tough matchup against the Phillies.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Surrenders pair of homers

DeGrom (10-3) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Angels. He struck out eight. The ace wasn't at his sharpest Monday, surrendering a two-run homer to light-hitting Kevin Newman in the third inning and a solo shot to Taylor Ward in the sixth inning. DeGrom's final outing of July ended on a sour note, but he had been dominant since June 1 with a 6-0 record, 2.13 ERA and 0.82 WHIP over nine starts and 55 innings.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Submits quality start

DeGrom allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Saturday. DeGrom closed out the first half by logging quality starts in seven of his last eight outings, going 5-0 with 12 runs allowed over 49 innings in that span. He was a bit unfortunate Saturday, serving up solo home runs to Jose Altuve and Yainer Diaz, which makes this deGrom's fourth outing with multiple homers allowed. He's still been otherwise dominant -- and more importantly, healthy -- in 2025, posting a 2.32 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 113:24 K:BB across 112.1 innings over 19 starts. He's already at his heaviest workload since 2019, so it'll be something to keep an eye on with how he holds up after the All-Star break.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Goes five frames in no-decision

DeGrom completed five innings against the Angels on Monday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters. DeGrom gave up three runs over his first two frames and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third. He settled down after that and retired seven of the final eight batters he faced, but the early struggles resulted in an elevated pitch count, and deGrom was pulled after having thrown 95 pitches over five innings. Though the right-hander's 14-game streak of allowing two or fewer runs came to an end, he extended his streak of starts without a loss to seven. DeGrom was an easy choice for an All-Star berth, as he's compiled a 2.29 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 105:23 K:BB over 106.1 innings. He's scheduled for one more start before that exhibition contest, slated for this weekend in Houston.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Six Ks in six strong frames Tuesday

DeGrom (9-2) notched the win Tuesday against Baltimore, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out six. The star right-hander extended his streak of quality starts to six, tossing at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer each time during that stretch. DeGrom served up a home run Tuesday for the first time in his last six outings. Over 101.1 innings in 2025, deGrom boasts a 2.13 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 100:21 K:BB, and he is tentatively projected to take the ball next week against the Angels in Anaheim.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Blanks Baltimore

DeGrom (8-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Orioles, allowing one hit and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out seven. DeGrom was nearly untouchable Wednesday -- he held the Orioles hitless through seven innings before Colton Cowser led off the eighth with a single. It's the fifth straight quality start for deGrom, who's gone 4-0 with a 1.41 ERA in that span (32 innings). His ERA is down to a sparkling 2.08 on the season with a 0.91 WHIP and 94:20 K:BB across 16 starts (95.1 innings). DeGrom will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled as a home rematch with Baltimore.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out seven in win

DeGrom (7-2) earned the win against the Pirates on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over six innings. DeGrom retired the first 11 batters he faced before allowing two runs in the fourth inning. The 37-year-old generated 12 whiffs on 84 pitches and has now delivered four straight quality starts and 12 consecutive outings yielding two earned runs or fewer. He'll carry a 2.24 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 87:18 K:BB across 88.1 innings into a road matchup with the Orioles next week.

  • Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Masterful in sixth win

DeGrom (6-2) earned the win Saturday, allowing two hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings against Washington. He struck out eight. DeGrom was virtually unhittable against Washington on Saturday. The right-hander's fastball might be down a few ticks from his peak velocity (it's averaging 97.1 mph in 2025), but he's been as dominant as ever, posting a 1.66 ERA and 0.85 WHIP across 43.1 innings in his past seven starts. With a 2.12 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 76.1 innings in 13 outings overall in 2025, the 36-year-old is reasserting himself as one of the game's premier pitchers.
