The southpaw tossed 5.1 scoreless innings Saturday before a two-RBI double by Mark Vientos ended his outing, and a lack of run support from the Giants handed him the loss. Ray's overall numbers remain strong with a 2.93 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 129 innings in 22 starts, although the veteran's last five starts have more closely aligned with his 3.75 FIP on the season, as he's recorded a 3.52 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 30.2 innings during that stretch.
Ray (9-4) took the loss Sunday against Toronto, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out three.
It was a tough outing for Ray, who gave up a season-high five runs while matching another season high with five walks. The veteran left-hander had been pitching well prior to the All-Star break, working to a 2.02 ERA in his previous four starts (26.2 innings). Overall, Ray sports a 2.92 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP and 131 strikeouts through 21 starts (123.1 innings) this season. He'll look to get back on track his next time out, currently scheduled to come next week at home against the Mets.

Ray was close to taking a hard-luck loss, but Luis Matos' game-tying homer in the ninth inning spared him. Ray was strong, only allowing an RBI double to Freddie Freeman and a solo home run to Miguel Rojas in terms of damage, but the southpaw wasn't quite as sharp as Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who pitched seven scoreless frames. Since the start of June, Ray has allowed just 19 runs (16 earned) over 48.2 innings, good for a 2.96 ERA. That's a little worse than his overall mark this year -- he's at a 2.65 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 128:44 K:BB through 119 innings over 20 starts. Ray was named an All-Star this year but won't pitch in Tuesday's game since he started Sunday.

The southpaw has logged a quality start each time he's gone at least six frames this season, with this being his 12th quality start in 18 outings. It was also his first complete game since his lone career shutout back in 2017 when he was a member of the Diamondbacks. Ray has a 2.68 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 117:39 K:BB across 107.1 innings this season. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Phillies.

Ray (8-3) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over six innings in a loss against the White Sox on Saturday.
Ray fired five scoreless frames before surrendering a solo homer to Andrew Benintendi in the sixth. That ended up being the only run scored in the contest, resulting in Ray taking his second loss over his past three outings. In both of those defeats, Ray has also notched a quality start, and he hasn't give up more than three earned runs in an appearance since April 16, so he's not pitching terribly despite a so-so 3.54 ERA in five June starts. Ray still ranks among the top 15 qualified MLB starters with a 2.75 ERA and 110 punchouts on the season.

The San Francisco southpaw conceded a season-worst eight base knocks in this 88-pitch outing over which he fired 61 strikes. Ray allowed two long balls -- solo homers to Romy Gonzalez and Ceddanne Rafaela -- in a start for the first time since his first appearance of the season at Cincinnati on March 30. Despite this unsteady performance, Ray remains one of the elite starting pitchers in the game. He will carry a 2.83 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 104:36 K:BB across 92.1 innings into his next start against the White Sox in Chicago next weekend.
