  • Cubs' Mike Zagurski: Won't make Opening Day roster

The Cubs reassigned Zagurski to their minor-league camp Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

After a four-year hiatus, Zagurski resurfaced in the big leagues last season for the first time since 2013. He was lit up in two relief appearances for Milwaukee but fared better with the organization's Triple-A affiliate at Colorado Springs, logging a 3.20 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 45 innings. Zagurski will likely open 2019 with the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa.

  • Mike Zagurski: Signs with Cubs

Zagurski agreed to a minor-league deal with the Cubs on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports.

Zagurski only appeared in a pair of games for Milwaukee last year before getting designated for assignment in July and sent back to the Triple-A level. He logged a 3.20 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with a 66:17 K:BB across 45 innings of relief for Triple-A Colorado Springs, and will provide more depth to the Cubs' bullpen.

  • Brewers' Mike Zagurski: DFA'd by Brewers

Zagurski was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Sunday.

Zagurski struggled in two appearances since having his contract purchased June 28 and allowed seven runs on five hits and two walks for an unsightly 63.00 ERA. The 35-year-old left-hander could return to Triple-A Colorado Springs if he clears waivers, but he seems unlikely to garner another look from the Brewers given his performance this season and sub-par major-league track record.

  • Brewers' Mike Zagurski: Joins big-league club

Zagurski had his contract selected by the Brewers and was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Zagurski signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers in December and posted a 3.90 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with a 48:12 K:BB over 30 innings with the Sky Sox. The 35-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013, and has a career 7.05 ERA and 1.74 WHIP across 75.1 innings, covering parts of five major-league seasons. The veteran left-hander should serve a low-leverage role out of Milwaukee's bullpen, and seems likely to have a relatively short stay with the club.

  • Brewers' Mike Zagurski: Inks minor-league deal with Brewers

Zagurski has agreed to a minor-league deal with Milwaukee, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.

Zagurski has bounced around throughout his career, spending time with four other teams before signing with the Brewers. He last saw an opportunity to pitch in the major leagues back in 2013, tossing just 6.1 innings and accruing a 17.05 ERA. Zagurski will look to find his niche in Milwaukee, though he'll likely start the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

  • Mike Zagurski: Released by Tigers

Zagurski was released by the Tigers earlier this month, Tom Reisenweber of the Erie Times-News reports.

Zagurski struggled to find a rhythm with Triple-A Toledo this season, posting a 5.06 ERA over 10.2 innings of relief, but seemed to be turning it around with Double-A Erie, as evidenced by his 2.16 ERA and 25:5 K:BB. Regardless, it wasn't enough for the Tigers, as they put the 34-year-old back on the free agency market. Zagurski, who spent the last two seasons pitching in Japan, hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2013 and remains unlikely to get such an opportunity in the future.

  • Tigers' Mike Zagurski: Inks minor-league deal with Detroit

Zagurski signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Sunday, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.

Following a two-year stint in Japan, Zagurski, 34, will head back to the States with the hope of making it back to the majors. Zagurski, who last appeared in the big leagues in 2013, has made 89 career MLB appearances, splitting time between the Phillies, Diamondbacks, Yankees and Pirates. He'll face long odds of breaking camp with the Tigers and may need to pitch well at the Triple-A level before he has a realistic chance of hitting the majors.
