Troy Terry RW | ANA
Ducks' Troy Terry: Still 2-3 months away
Terry (hip) is slated to be out for another 2-3 months, according to Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune on Saturday.
Terry underwent hip surgery in June and received a recovery timeline of 5-6 months. He still seems to be on track for a November return, but the exact date remains unclear. Terry compiled 19 goals, 57 points and 161 shots on net in 61 games during the 2025-26 regular season. Once he's ready to play, he will likely occupy a top-line role.

Jordan Binnington G | STL
Blues' Jordan Binnington: Tending twine Saturday
Binnington will patrol the home crease in Saturday's exhibition game against Dallas, per Lou Korac of The Hockey News.
Binnington posted a 13-20-7 record with one shutout, a 3.33 GAA and an .873 save percentage across 41 appearances during the 2025-26 regular season. The 33-year-old Binnington will play the first two periods of Saturday's contest, and Georgi Romanov will take over between the pipes in the third frame.

Adin Hill G | LV
Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Set to start Saturday
Hill is expected to defend the road net against the Kings on Saturday in preseason action, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Hill posted a 10-9-6 record with one shutout, a 3.04 GAA and an .871 save percentage over 27 appearances during the 2025-26 regular season. Hill and Carter Hart are expected to get two starts apiece in the preseason ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Cameron Schmidt RW | DAL
Stars' Cameron Schmidt: Returned to WHL
Schmidt (illness) was assigned to WHL Victoria on Saturday.
Schmidt had been dealing with the flu, but he will probably be back on the ice soon. The 19-year-old forward amassed 51 goals and 100 points in 72 WHL regular-season games between Vancouver and Seattle in 2025-26. Dallas selected Schmidt with the No. 94 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Brian Dumoulin D | LA
Kings' Brian Dumoulin: Back at practice
Dumoulin (undisclosed) rejoined his teammates at Friday's practice, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Dumoulin missed the opening day of training camp to undergo additional testing, but he received clearance and feels good to go. The 35-year-old defender recorded two goals, 17 points, 61 shots on net, 89 blocked shots, and 36 hits over 82 outings in the 2025-26 regular season.

Tyson Hinds D | ANA
Ducks' Tyson Hinds: Slated to practice Saturday
Hinds (lower body) is expected to practice Saturday.
Hinds had been limited by a lower-body injury to begin camp. Despite the missed time, the 23-year-old defenseman is still in position to compete for an NHL roster spot. He played in six regular-season games in 2025-26 as well as nine playoff contests, and he'll likely be in the mix to play on the third pairing.

Yaroslav Askarov G | SJ
Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Changes training in offseason
Askarov told reporters Friday that he changed his training regimen and added 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
The extra muscle should help Askarov hold up over a longer NHL campaign. He played in 47 games last year, going 21-20-4 with a 3.63 GAA and an .883 save percentage while occasionally sharing the crease with Alex Nedeljkovic. Askarov is poised to compete for starts again early in the year, but if his performance improves, it won't be long before he's the clear No. 1 between the pipes.

Uvis Balinskis D | FLA
Panthers' Uvis Balinskis: Participating in practice
Balinskis (foot) has skated for the first two days of training camp, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports Friday.
Balinskis' injury was expected to be healed in 4-6 weeks last spring, so it's no surprise he's good for camp. The 30-year-old defenseman had 15 points in 54 outings with the Panthers last year. He's been skating alongside Alex Petrovic in camp, with both of those blueliners likely competing with others for one or two roster spots that probably won't lead to full-time usage.

Niko Mikkola D | FLA
Panthers' Niko Mikkola: Working with Seth Jones in camp
Mikkola (knee) has skated with Seth Jones during the first two days of training camp, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports Friday.
Mikkola was sidelined by a knee injury at the end of 2025-26, but his recovery was expected to be 4-6 weeks at the time. His presence on the ice for training camp suggests he has no lingering injury concerns heading into the new season. The 30-year-old will be in line to fill a shutdown role in the top four again in 2026-27 after posting 11 points, 116 hits, 81 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 68 appearances last year.

Eetu Luostarinen C | FLA
Panthers' Eetu Luostarinen: Adds muscle in offseason
Luostarinen focused on adding muscle during the offseason, Rob Darragh of the Panthers' official site reports Friday.
Luostarinen is slated to be on the third line to begin 2026-27, though he has occasionally moved up in the lineup. The longer offseason created by the Panthers missing the playoffs last spring opened the door for Luostarinen to do more in his offseason workouts. He has recorded at least 24 points in each of the last five years, so he'll have some appeal in deeper fantasy formats.
