Trevor Kuntar C | BUF
Sabres' Trevor Kuntar: Waived Friday
Kuntar was waived by Buffalo on Friday.
Kuntar had 21 goals, 37 points and 85 PIM in 70 regular-season appearances with AHL Rochester in 2025-26. He's expected to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
-
Dennis Gilbert D | BUF
Sabres' Dennis Gilbert: Placed on waivers
Gilbert was put on waivers by Buffalo on Friday.
Gilbert had 13 assists and 33 PIM in 37 regular-season AHL outings between Lehigh Valley and Belleville in 2025-26. He also recorded an assist in eight regular-season appearances with Ottawa last campaign. Gilbert shifted to Buffalo's organization by inking a one-year, $850,000 contract over the summer. Despite getting a one-way deal, it seems he probably won't be part of the Sabres' Opening Night roster.
-
Mason Geertsen LW | BUF
Sabres' Mason Geertsen: Lands on waivers Friday
Geertsen was placed on waivers by the Sabres on Friday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Rochester.
Geertsen made the Sabres' Opening Night roster last year but made just five regular-season appearances at the NHL level before being sent to the AHL in November, where he remained for the remainder of the season. He'll head back to Rochester to begin the 2026-27 campaign, assuming he clears waivers.

Jason Dickinson C | EDM
Oilers' Jason Dickinson: Set to miss Opening Night
Dickinson will be sidelined indefinitely with an undisclosed injury, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports Friday.
Dickinson was expected to fill a bottom-six role for the club, a role that will likely go to Josh Samanski or Owen Michaels in the interim. While the 31-year-old center has reached the 30-point threshold twice in his career, he may be hard-pressed to repeat those numbers in 2026-27, especially if his injury lingers too long into the season.
-
Eric Comrie G | SJ
Sharks' Eric Comrie: Cut from camp
Comrie was designated for waivers by the Sharks on Friday.
Comrie went 12-11-1 with a 3.13 GAA and .890 save percentage in 25 regular-season contests for Winnipeg last year. With Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic on the roster, not to mention Ilya Samsonov, the goalie room proved too crowded for Comrie to secure a spot on the roster.
-
William Stromgren LW | CGY
Flames' William Stromgren: Placed on waivers by Calgary
Stromgren was placed on waivers by the Flames on Friday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Calgary.
Stromgren made 66 regular-season appearances with the Flames' AHL affiliate last year and recorded 11 goals and 36 assists. He signed a one-year, two-way contract during the offseason to remain with the organization and will head back to the minors for the start of the 2026-27 campaign, assuming he clears waivers.
-
Sam Morton C | CGY
Flames' Sam Morton: Bound for minors
Morton was placed on waivers by Calgary on Friday.
Morton has just four games of NHL experience under his belt, including three contests last year. Without a clear path to the NHL roster, Morton figures to remain a relative non-factor in fantasy contests.
-
Rory Kerins C | CGY
Flames' Rory Kerins: Lands on waivers Friday
Kerins was placed on waivers by the Flames on Friday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Calgary.
Kerins has spent most of the past two years in the AHL, most recently recording 22 goals and 35 assists across 56 regular-season appearances with the Wranglers during the 2025-26 campaign. He remained with the Flames during the offseason on a one-year, two-way contract he signed in late June, and he'll head back to the minors as long as he clears waivers.
-
Jake Livingstone D | NSH
Flames' Jake Livingstone: Waived by club
Livingstone was designated for waivers by the Flames on Friday.
Livingstone hasn't featured in an NHL game since 2022-23 when he logged five games with the Predators. As such, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be expecting him to suddenly become an NHL mainstay.
-
Ben Jones C | CGY
Flames' Ben Jones: Placed on waivers
Jones was placed on waivers by the Flames on Friday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Calgary.
Jones has seen some time at the NHL level in each of the last two seasons, most recently recording a goal, two assists, 58 hits and 11 blocked shots while averaging 8:50 of ice time across 28 regular-season appearances with the Wild. He joined the Flames on a one-year, two-way contract during the offseason and will begin the year in the minors if he clears waivers, but he could provide depth for the NHL club if the team deals with injuries at some point during the 2026-27 campaign.
