Nick Suzuki C | MON
Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Two points in Tuesday's loss
Suzuki produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Hurricanes.
The star center gave Montreal a 2-1 lead early in a wild first period, snapping a shot from the top of the faceoff cirlcle past Brandon Bussi, before Suzuki helped to set up Juraj Slafkovsky late in the third as the home side tried to keep pace with the defending Stanley Cup champs. Suzuki has delivered back-to-back multi-point performances, giving him two goals and six points through three games to begin the campaign along with eight shots on net, eight hits and a plus-4 rating.

Jakub Dobes G | MON
Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Blown away by Canes
Dobes stopped 28 of 33 shots in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Hurricanes, with Carolina's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
Montreal got out-shot 34-20 on the night, and none of the pucks that got past Dobes came from long distance as his defense gave up plenty of high-danger chances. It was the first regulation loss of the season for the 25-year-old netminder, who's gone 1-1-1 in three starts with a rough 4.43 GAA, allowing 13 goals on 91 shots. His ratios should improve, but the Habs will need to tighten up their play in their own zone for Dobes to post numbers similar to his 2025-26 performance (2.78 GAA, .901 save percentage).

Jaccob Slavin D | CAR
Hurricanes' Jaccob Slavin: Two helpers in win over Habs
Slavin notched two assists while adding a shot on net, three blocked shots, a hit and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-4 win over Montreal.
The veteran blueliner picked up both his helpers in the third period on Taylor Hall's game-winner and an empty-net tally by Andrei Svechnikov. The points were the first of the season in four games for Slavin, but he's been a force in his own zone with 11 blocked shots already.

Eric Robinson LW | CAR
Hurricanes' Eric Robinson: Picks up two points in Tuesday's win
Robinson scored a goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Canadiens.
Carolina's fourth line chipped in some offense Tuesday, as Robinson scored midway through the first period by tipping home a point shot from Jalen Chatfield right off a faceoff win by Mark Jankowski. Robinson then returned the favor by setting up Jankowski in the second period. Robinson's points were his first of the season in four games, but he's been a physical presence in the early going with nine hits.

Mark Jankowski C | CAR
Hurricanes' Mark Jankowski: Two-point effort in win
Jankowski produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Canadiens.
The checking-line center helped set up Eric Robinson for a tally midway through the first period before potting his own in the second. The points were the first of the season for Jankowski, and he doesn't offer much fantasy appeal given his role -- the 32-year-old put together 11 goals and 21 points over 68 regular-season games in 2025-26 during his first full season with the Hurricanes.
-
Taylor Hall LW | CAR
Hurricanes' Taylor Hall: Lights lamp twice in Tuesday's win
Hall scored two goals, one the game-winner, in Tuesday's 6-4 victory over Montreal.
The veteran winger opened the scoring early in the first period before giving Carolina a 5-3 lead midway through the third. They were the first points of the season for Hall in four games, but he's been finding other ways to contribute in the early going, producing eight shots on net, eight hits and eight PIM as well.

Sebastian Aho C | CAR
Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Three points in Montreal
Aho scored a power-play goal and added two even-strength assists in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Canadiens.
The star center rounded out his night with three shots on net, two hits and two PIM. Aho has had a blistering start to the season, racking up four goals -- three with the man advantage -- and seven points in four games. He's also been surprisingly chippy, collecting at least one minor penalty in each contest for 10 PIM, but that's unlikely to last as his career high is just 46 PIM.
-
Brandon Bussi G | CAR
Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Collects first win of season
Bussi made 16 saves in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Canadiens.
Montreal built a 3-2 lead in a wild first period, but Bussi settled down the rest of the way while Carolina's offense kept rolling. It was the first win in three starts this season for the 28-year-old netminder, who has a somewhat shaky 3.24 GAA in the early going while giving up 10 goals on 67 shots. Bussi is still the clear No. 1 between the pipes for the defending Stanley Cup champs, but Pyotr Kochetkov could get the nod at home Thursday against the Canucks.

Juuse Saros G | NSH
Predators' Juuse Saros: Tough loss in Toronto
Saros made 32 saves in a 5-4 overtime loss to Toronto on Tuesday.
The Preds staked him a 3-0 lead and then the team allowed the Leafs to claw its way back for the home win. The 31-year-old Saros is hoping to rebound after two difficult seasons where he went 48-53-14 and delivered below league-average GAA and save percentages. The Preds are in a retool right now, and oddmakers have the team finishing outside the playoffs. Saros has enough talent to change that by himself, but the demons of his last two seasons will need to be exorcised first.

Nils Hoglander LW | NSH
Predators' Nils Hoglander: Three goals in last two games
Hoglander scored twice Tuesday in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.
Hoglander is really clicking with Filip Forsberg and Matthew Wood on the Preds' second line, a gig that could finally allow him to show off his offensive upside. His career-best to this point came in 2023-24 when he scored 24 goals and added 12 assists in 80 games in Vancouver. Hoglander has three goals in his last two games.
