Matthew Savoie C | EDM
Oilers' Matt Savoie: Won't participate in training camp
The Oilers announced Wednesday that Savoie (undisclosed) has been ruled out for training camp so he can rehab from an injury that occurred during an offseason training session.
Ryan Rishaug of TSN adds that Savoie is unlikely to be available until late October. While the exact nature of Savoie's injury isn't yet known, it's serious enough to sideline him for training camp activities in September. This news hurts Savoie's stock in upcoming fantasy drafts, but managers should keep an eye on him when he returns to the lineup -- he could be an appealing option if he winds up in a top-six role. The 22-year-old appeared in all 82 regular-season games last year and recorded 18 goals, 19 assists, 37 blocked shots, 24 PIM and 14 hits while averaging 14:47 of ice time.

Mattias Janmark C | EDM
Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Won't participate in training camp
The Oilers announced Wednesday that Janmark (undisclosed) isn't expected to participate in training camp ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Janmark underwent season-ending surgery in late March to address a chronic injury, and he hasn't yet recovered enough to be ready for training camp in September. While the Oilers haven't officially revealed his status for the start of the regular season, it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss time since he'll presumably need to ramp up before he's in the mix to return to game action. Across 43 regular-season appearances with Edmonton last year, he recorded a goal, seven assists, 22 PIM, 13 blocked shots and 10 hits while averaging 11:51 of ice time.

Frederik Andersen G | EDM
Oilers' Frederik Andersen: Set to miss training camp
Andersen will not take part in training camp due to an undisclosed injury suffered during the offseason, the Oilers announced Wednesday.
Per Ryan Rishaug of TSN, Andersen could be out until late October. Andersen looked poised to enter the 2026-27 season as the No. 1 option in Edmonton, but his absence from training camp could open the door for both Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi. Considering the 36-year-old Andersen hasn't appeared in more than 35 regular-season games since the 2021-22 campaign, he was unlikely to be a top goaltender option even if healthy. This injury could further impact his fantasy value.

Alex Nylander LW | CGY
Flames' Alexander Nylander: Signs PTO
Nylander agreed to terms on a professional tryout agreement with Calgary on Wednesday, per PuckPedia.
Nylander hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2024-25, when he saw action in five contests for the Maple Leafs. Along the way, the 28-year-old forward failed to pick up a point while generating four shots, four PIM and a minus-1 rating. If Nylander can turn his PTO into a full-time deal, it almost certainly will be two-way in nature to allow him to easily move between the NHL and AHL.

Victor Hedman D | TB
Lightning's Victor Hedman: Preparing for upcoming season
Hedman is physically and mentally healthy ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, per Dan Rosen of NHL.com on Wednesday.
Hedman sat out the Bolts' final 22 games of the regular and postseason while attending to his mental health. This followed 34 games on the shelf due to various injuries. As a result, Hedman played in just 33 contests last year in which he produced one goal and 16 assists, including six power-play helpers. With the 35-year-old blueliner ready for the upcoming campaign, he could be a top bounce-back candidate.

Calvin Petersen G | WAS
Capitals' Cal Petersen: Agrees to professional tryout
Petersen signed a professional tryout agreement with Washington on Tuesday.
Petersen posted a 13-16-2 record with a 2.73 GAA and an .896 save percentage across 33 appearances for AHL Iowa in the 2025-26 regular season. The 31-year-old netminder has played exclusively in the minors for the past two campaigns. If he impresses during training camp, he could earn a two-way contract with Washington.

Kevin Hayes RW | PIT
Kevin Hayes: Headed overseas
Hayes signed a one-year contract with AK Bars Kazan of the KHL on Tuesday.
Hayes' time in the NHL has likely come to a close, as he was phased out of the Penguins' lineup in 2025-26, appearing in a career-low 28 regular-season games. Over 805 career regular-season appearances between the Rangers, Flyers, Penguins, Blues and Jets, Hayes delivered 185 goals and 446 points. The veteran forward also notched eight goals and 26 points over 56 career playoff outings.

Nikita Tolopilo G | VAN
Canucks' Nikita Tolopilo: Set to compete for roster spot
Tolopilo is slated to compete for an Opening Night roster spot during training camp ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Monday.
Tolopilo made a career-high 21 regular-season appearances with the Canucks last year, and he went 6-11-2 with a 3.61 GAA and .881 save percentage. It's not yet clear whether Thatcher Demko (hip) will be ready for the start of training camp this fall, while Kevin Lankinen was inconsistent over 47 regular-season appearances last year. As a result, the Canucks could benefit from beginning the 2026-27 season with three goaltenders on the NHL roster, but Tolopilo will likely need to prove that he's more reliable than other netminders who may become available on the waiver wire or via trade.

Tom Willander D | VAN
Canucks' Tom Willander: Expected to begin regular season in NHL
Willander appears likely to make the Canucks' Opening Night roster for the 2026-27 season, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Monday.
Willander will still need to make an impression during training camp in September as he pushes for a spot on the Opening Night roster, but Drance suggests that the blueliner's development would benefit most by playing at the NHL level. The 21-year-old Willander made 70 regular-season appearances last year in his first taste of NHL action, recording five goals, 16 assists, 78 blocked shots, 35 hits and 28 PIM while averaging 16:59 of ice time.

Victor Mancini D | VAN
Canucks' Victor Mancini: Likely to make Opening Night roster
Mancini appears likely to make the Canucks' Opening Night roster for the 2026-27 campaign, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports Monday.
Although training camp is still several weeks away, Mancini appears to have the inside track to a spot on the NHL roster after signing a two-year, one-way extension in March. The 24-year-old remains waiver exempt ahead of the 2026-27 season, so it's possible that he gets sent to the AHL if he struggles during camp, but even if he spends some time in the minors, it wouldn't be surprising to see him earn his fair share of playing time at the NHL level. Across 24 regular-season appearances with Vancouver last year, Mancini recorded no goals, three assists, 28 hits, 26 blocked shots and seven PIM while averaging 13:44 of ice time.
