  • Senators' Stephen Halliday: First career game winner

Halliday scored a goal in a 3-2 victory over Toronto on Saturday.

Halliday jammed in a rebound from the side of the net just as a Senators power play ended in the third period. It stood as the winner. Halliday has just 30 games under his NHL belt, but he's earned a role as the Sens' fourth-line pivot. It was his first career game-winning goal.

  • Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Falls short against Wild

DiPietro stopped 26 of 29 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Wild. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

The Wild controlled the last two periods, but DiPietro put in a fairly good effort. The 27-year-old netminder is filling an NHL role on a full-time basis for the first time. DiPietro has some fantasy upside in more favorable matchups than this one, but his playing time could be limited to 20-25 games as Jeremy Swayman's backup. The Bruins don't have a back-to-back over the next week, so it's unclear if DiPietro will get another chance to resume the hunt for his first win in the near future.

  • Wild's Jared Spurgeon: Buries goal in win

Spurgeon scored a goal, blocked two shots, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Spurgeon has gotten a chance at a larger role than initially expected due to the indefinite absence of Brock Faber (skull fracture). Spurgeon is currently on the top pairing at even strength and is also involved on the second power-play unit. The 36-year-old has held up his end of the bargain with two points, two shots on net, five blocks, four PIM and a plus-3 rating over two contests so far. Spurgeon has a fairly lengthy injury history as well, but he's in a position to be productive as long as he stays healthy.

  • Quinn Hughes D | MIN

Wild's Quinn Hughes: Goal, assist in Saturday's win

Hughes scored a power-play goal on four shots and dished an assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Hughes' second-period tally gave the Wild a 2-1 lead and stood as the game-winner. He also helped out on Jared Spurgeon's goal in the third. Hughes has collected three points, nine shots and a plus-2 rating over the first two games of the campaign. He's in the upper echelon of offensive defensemen in the league, though Hughes' offense will far outpace his physical play -- he had 76 points, seven hits and 87 blocked shots over 74 regular-season outings in 2025-26.

  • Wild's Kirill Kaprizov: Scores twice in win

Kaprizov scored two goals, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Kaprizov's second tally was an empty-netter off a turnover to ice the win. The 29-year-old winger has three goals on six shots and a plus-2 rating across the first two games of the season. When he's on, Kaprizov is among the best scoring wingers in the NHL, and he's taken no time to get up to speed this year.

  • Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Strong in Saturday's win

Wallstedt stopped 26 of 27 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Boston was on the second half of a back-to-back, which may have made things a little easier for Wallstedt. He delivered a second good performance to open the season, as the 23-year-old is looking more than ready to handle a starter's workload in the absence of Filip Gustavsson. Wallstedt has given up just two goals on 47 shots in his pair of wins to start 2026-27. The Wild begin a three-game road trip in Buffalo on Tuesday.

  • Mason Shaw C | WPG

Wild's Mason Shaw: Three-point effort for Iowa

Shaw scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Iowa's 4-3 shootout win over Texas on Saturday.

Shaw is back in the Wild's organization after two years with AHL Manitoba. In those campaigns, he produced 32 goals and 49 assists over 143 regular-season contests while adding some grit. He had previous spent parts of seven seasons with Iowa, and he's now captaining the minor-league club as a veteran forward.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Strong when game on line

Ullmark made 27 saves in a 3-2 win over Toronto on Saturday.

Ullmark was strong when he needed to be, especially in the second period when he stretched to get a toe on a great shot by William Nylander to keep the score knotted 2-2. Ullmark's overall stat line last year was mid, but he sparkled with a 14-4-3 record, 2.43 GAA and .904 save percentage in his final 21 starts after returning from a mental health leave. He's the key to the team's success this season post-Brady Tkachuk.

  • Senators' Thomas Chabot: Statement game as new team captain

Chabot scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs.

It was a statement game for the new Senators captain. Chabot put the Sens up 1-0 late in the first period on rebound. And he stepped up when Jake Sanderson (lower body) left the game early and didn't return. Chabot himself has a long history of injury, and he's played a full season just once (80 games in 2024-25) in 10 seasons as a regular. Still, he's capable of a 40-point campaign with some power-play production, and that's valuable in a lot of formats.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Strong in loss

Lindgren made 27 saves in a 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.

He allowed two goals. It was a sharp start for Lindgren, who is looking to bounce back after an injury-riddled season that made it difficult for him to get into a rhythm in the blue paint. The crease is Logan Thompson's, but Lindgren could get 30 starts if he can continue this momentum.
