  • Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Manages point after queasy start

Montembeault made 38 saves Tuesday in a 5-4 shootout loss to Philadelphia.

Things looked grim early when he allowed three goals on the first six shots he faced. However, Montembeault found his game and his confidence, and he helped the Habs earn a point. He needed a strong start with Jakub Dobes outperforming him by a wide margin. The two are splitting games. Dobes is 6-0-0 with a 1.97 GAA and a .930 save percentage, while Montembeault is 3-3-1 with a 3.67 GAA and an .855 save percentage.

  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Shootout loss but signs of life

Sorokin made 24 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss to Boston on Tuesday.

He allowed just one goal in the shootout. Sorokin and the Isles continue to scuffle this season. He's 3-4-2 with a 3.33 GAA and an .879 save percentage in nine starts. That save percentage is 38th in the NHL. His GAA is 55th. Those simply don't compute with Sorokin's career averages of 2.60 GAA and .915 save percentage. There may be some signs of life, though. Sorokin has played four games (1-1-2) with new goalie coach Sergei Naumovs, who successfully coached the netminder in the KHL from 2018-2020. In the four games, Sorokin allowed four goals just once compared to four of his first five games with former goalie coach Piero Greco. You may be able to buy low now before Sorokin really starts to stabilize his game.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Third win in last four starts

Swayman made 29 saves in a 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders on Tuesday night.

He was perfect in the shootout. Swayman appears to be stabilizing his game after a three-game losing streak in mid-October. He's 3-1-0 in his last four contests, with just six goals allowed in the three victories. Unfortunately, Swayman allowed seven in the loss. Overall, he improved his GAA to 3.10, and his save percentage (.897) is inching up.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Tending twine Tuesday

Kuemper will guard the home goal versus the Jets on Tuesday, Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period reports.

Kuemper has allowed nine goals on 88 shots while going 1-1-1 over his last three games. The 35-year-old will make a fourth consecutive start, his longest run between the pipes so far in 2025-26. The Jets are averaging 3.75 goals per game, best in the NHL, which will make this a tough matchup for Kuemper.

  • Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Starting against Kings

Hellebuyck will protect the road goal versus the Kings on Tuesday, Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period reports.

Hellebuyck has allowed exactly three goals in three straight games, but he's come away with wins in each of his last two starts. The 32-year-old netminder will look to keep his success rolling against the Kings, who have averaged a poor 2.77 goals per game so far in 2025-26.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Handling backup duty

Oettinger will be the backup netminder for Casey DeSmith in the Stars' home game versus the Oilers on Tuesday.

Oettinger was away from the team Monday to attend the birth of his child. However, he has since rejoined the Stars and will be in uniform Tuesday. Expect Oettinger to be back between the pipes as soon as Thursday's game versus the Ducks.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Slated to start

Vasilevskiy is projected to start on the road versus the Avalanche on Tuesday, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.

Vasilevskiy was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate Tuesday, putting him in line for the start. The 31-year-old rattled off three straight wins prior to getting a rest Sunday versus the Mammoth. He'll look to keep his momentum going in a tough matchup versus the Avalanche, who have averaged 3.62 goals per game.

  • Penguins' Tristan Jarry: Surfaces on IR

Jarry (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Pittsburgh recalled Sergei Murashov from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a corresponding move. Jarry stopped 16 shots in a 4-3 loss to Toronto on Monday. As a result of moving to the IR list, he will be out of action for at least the next three games, starting with Thursday's home matchup against Washington. He has posted a 5-2-0 record this season while surrendering 18 goals on 202 shots. Arturs Silovs will probably see the majority of the starts for the Penguins during Jarry's absence.

  • Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: In goal Tuesday

Bobrovsky will get the starting nod on the road versus the Ducks on Tuesday.

Bobrovsky has given up three or more goals in four of his last five outings, while posting a 3-2-0 record and a 2.79 GAA. Even with a capable backup behind him in Daniil Tarasov, fantasy managers should continue to expect Bobrovsky to reach the 50-game mark for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons.

  • Akira Schmid G | FLA

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: First off Tuesday

Schmid was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, SinBin Vegas reports, indicating he will start Tuesday's home matchup versus Detroit.

Schmid is coming off a 21-save effort in last Tuesday's 6-3 win over Carolina. He has a 5-1-0 record this season while allowing 15 goals on 139 shots. Detroit is tied for 14th in the league with 3.23 goals per game this campaign.
