  • Blue Jackets' Jackson Smith: Trio of assists Saturday

Smith logged three assists in Penn State's 4-3 loss to the University of Minnesota on Saturday.

Smith is up to two goals and eight helpers through eight contests this season. The Blue Jackets prospect appears to have taken a step forward on offense. He has a decent scoring touch from the blue line and should see plenty of playing time as a key part of Penn State's roster.

  • Predators' Nick Perbix: Gets first two assists of season

Perbix had two assists Saturday in a 5-4 shootout win over Tampa Bay.

The points were the defender's first this season. Perbix is the kind of defender who goes unnoticed most nights, unless there's a missed play in the defensive zone. He has 23 blocks, three hits and just eight shots in 13 contests.

  • Senators' Logan Hensler: Adds three points in Wisconsin win

Hensler scored a goal and added two assists in the University of Wisconsin's 9-1 win over the University of Notre Dame on Saturday.

Hensler doubled up his point total for the season in this blowout win. He has two goals and four helpers across six games to start his junior year. The 20-year-old defenseman is a Senators prospect, selected 23rd overall in 2025. He produced 24 points over 55 contests across his first two years in college.

  • Janis Moser D | TB

Lightning's J.J. Moser: Five block effort

Moser blocked five shots in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Predators. He also had two shots and two hits.

The defender is still waiting on his first point this season, but he does have 23 blocks, six hits, 15 shots and a plus-3 rating in 13 games. Still, it's a long way from his seven goals, 22 assists, 91 blocks, 61 hits and plus-41rating from last year. With this profile, Moser fits the classic better on the ice than in the fantasy arena profile.

  • Lightning's Victor Hedman: Goal for aging veteran

Hedman scored a goal Saturday in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Predators.

Hedman has three goals, two assists, 16 blocks and 15 shots this season while averaging 14:13. His game has ease toward its twilight, but that's not really a surprise for a 6-foot-7 defender with 1,176 regular season and another 170 playoff games on his odometer.

  • Lightning's John Carlson: Goals in back-to-back games

Carlson had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to Nashville. He fired five shots.

Carlson has three points, including two goals, in his last two games. But none have come on the power play, a place where the Bolts continue to struggle despite the offensive firepower on the top unit. Carlson will get his points there for sure, so be patient.

  • Blues' Quinton Burns: Returned to AHL affiliate

Burns was assigned to AHL Springfield on Saturday.

Burns was a healthy scratch for Saturday's 5-4 win over Detroit before being sent back to the minors. He didn't make his NHL debut during his first NHL stint with the Blues. Burns has one assist in seven AHL appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Matthew Robertson: Up from minors

Robertson was summoned from AHL Hartford on Saturday.

Robertson has a goal and an assist in eight outings with Hartford in 2026-27. He hasn't played for the Rangers yet this season, but he did record six goals and 18 points in 72 regular-season appearances with the NHL squad in 2025-26.

  • Blue Jackets' Ivan Provorov: Good to return

Provorov (lower body) was taken off injured reserve Saturday.

Provorov hasn't played yet this season, but his activation suggests that he will be in the lineup for Saturday's game against Dallas. The 29-year-old had nine goals and 31 points in 82 regular-season outings in 2025-26. Dante Fabbro is projected to be a healthy scratch Saturday as a result of Provorov's return.

  • Flyers' Hunter McDonald: Heads back to Lehigh Valley

McDonald was loaned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

McDonald appeared in five games for the Flyers while Cam York (upper body) and Rasmus Ristolainen (hand) missed time due to injuries. With York back in action, McDonald became the odd man out for the team's left-shot defensemen. Overall, the 24-year-old blueliner posted a minus-2 rating, 10 PIM, three shots on net, 22 hits and six blocked shots during his NHL stint. He'll likely be a relevant injury call-up for the Flyers this season if he's needed at a later point.
