  • 49ers' Spencer Burford: Full participant in practice

Burford (knee) was a full participant in San Francisco's practice Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Burford has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in the Week 2 win over the Saints but is now closer to making his return. The 25-year-old was designated to return from injured reserve on Oct. 22, and he should have a chance to play in Sunday's matchup versus the Giants.

  • 49ers' Jake Brendel: Sits out practice

Brendel (hamstring) didn't participate in San Francisco's practice Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Brendel remains sidelined with the knee injury he suffered in the team's Week 7 win over the Falcons. Matt Hennessy will start at center for the second straight week if Brendel is unable to suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Giants.

  • Kenneth Murray LB | DAL

Cowboys' Kenneth Murray: Remains consistent in loss

Murray recorded seven tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 44-24 loss to the Broncos.

Murray tied for the team lead in tackles, even in the blowout loss. He has been remarkably consistent this season, logging at least seven tackles in six of eight contests. Murray will remain a key part of Dallas' defense so long as he's healthy.

  • Shemar James LB | DAL

Cowboys' Shemar James: Role remains solid

James recorded four tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 44-24 loss to the Broncos.

James had broken out in each of Dallas' previous three games, logging a combined 35 tackles. While his production took a downturn in Sunday's blowout loss, he still logged a 95 percent defensive snap rate. Expect James to bounce back in Week 9 against Arizona.

  • Panthers' Chandler Zavala: Full session in return to practice

Zavala (knee) logged a full practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Zavala has missed Carolina's last four games with a knee injury and this marked his first practice since suffering the injury. Per coach Dave Canales, Zavala looked good with his running and cutting. He'll need to be activated from injured reserve by Saturday to be active for Week 9 against the Packers, but Zavala appears to be closing in on retaking his starting role at right guard.

  • Ben Bartch OT | SF

49ers' Ben Bartch: Limited in practice

Bartch (ankle) was a limited participant in San Francisco's practice Wednesday, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.

Bartch returned to practice for the first time since being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury back in September. The 27-year-old is expected to be designated to return from injured reserve on Thursday, and he should have a chance to play in Sunday's matchup versus the Giants.

  • Taylor Moton OT | CAR

    Panthers' Taylor Moton: Still sidelined

Moton (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Moton was among a couple of Panthers' offensive linemen to suffer an injury in Sunday's loss to the Bills. Though he didn't practice Wednesday, Carolina's coaching staff left the door open to Moton suiting up Sunday against the Packers, per Gantt and Kassidy Hill of the Panthers' official site.

  • 49ers' Jordan Elliott: Limited participant in practice

Elliott (ankle) was a limited participant in San Francisco's practice Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Elliott returned to practice Wednesday after exiting the team's Week 8 loss versus the Texans in the third quarter with an ankle injury. The 27-year-old should continue to serve as one of the 49ers' starting defensive tackles should he be able to suit up for the team's matchup against the Giants on Sunday.

  • Cade Mays C | CAR

Panthers' Cade Mays: No practice to start week

Mays did not practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Mays suffered the ankle injury in Carolina's Week 8 loss to the Bills. Though his status is not yet official, coach Dave Canales said he does not expect Mays to play this week, per Gantt and Kassidy Hill of the Panthers' official site. That will likely push Austin Corbett into a starting role under center.

  • Rob Havenstein OT | LAR

Rams' Rob Havenstein: Begins week with limited session

Havenstein (ankle) logged a limited practice Wednesday, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.

Havenstein has missed the Rams' last three games, though coach Sean McVay said he expects to get his offensive lineman back for a Week 9 matchup against the Saints. A limited practice is progress toward that return, but Havenstein's status won't become official until at least Friday when injury designations are released.
