  • Avery Davis WR | DET

    Avery Davis: Cut from squad

Davis was waived by the Lions on Wednesday.

Davis joined the team Sunday, but unfortunately for the Notre Dame product, his opportunity did not last long. He'll now work to earn a chance on another team.

  • Dolphins' Braylon Sanders: Injury considered minor

Sanders suffered what head coach Mike McDaniel is calling a "lower-body" injury with no structural damage, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.

Sanders' injury was reported to be knee-related Tuesday when he needed to be carted off the practice field during 11-on-11 drills. Ultimately, this is good news for Sanders, who McDaniels expects to be able to return to practice next week. The 24-year-old is likely on the outside looking in regarding the 53-man roster, although Oyefusi does believe the Ole Miss product is having a good camp.

  • Steelers' Calvin Austin: Impressing as camp progresses

Austin has made several big plays while showing continual improvement over the first few weeks of training camp, Matthew Marczi of SteelersDepot.com reports.

Austin looked shaky during Pittsburgh's first practice of training camp but has shown continuous improvement in subsequent practices. Despite missing his entire rookie season in 2022 due to a foot injury, he's put his speed on full display during camp his second training camp. Austin is firmly behind Deontae Johnson and George Pickens on the team's depth chart at receiver but should have an opportunity to carve out a role within the offense, especially if new acquisition Allen Robinson struggles to fit in with the Steelers.

  • Colts' Isaiah McKenzie: Listed as No. 3 receiver

McKenzie is listed as the No. 3 receiver on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart of the preseason, Raven Moore of the team's official site reports.

He's notably listed ahead of rookie Josh Downs, his primary competition for the slot role, though McKenzie getting the No. 3 designation may be in deference to his veteran status. Given the third-round draft capital the Colts invested into him, Downs may still be the frontrunner to win the slot job, but McKenzie could still craft out a meaningful rule even as Indianapolis' No. 4 receiver and punt returner.

  • Jonathan Mingo WR | DAL

Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Starter on initial depth chart

Mingo is listed as a starting wide receiver on the Panthers' first unofficial depth chart of training camp, Augusta Stone of the team's official site reports.

Carolina made Mingo a second-round pick in this year's draft based on his athleticism rather than his production at Mississippi. Prior to 2022, he had never topped 400 yards or scored more than three touchdowns in any of his three collegiate seasons, but in his final year he erupted for 51 catches, 861 yards and five TDs in 13 games. Mingo then proceeded to measure in at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds with a 4.46 40 time, 39.5-inch vertical and 129-inch broad jump at the combine. While he joined a Panthers receiving corps that already featured veterans Adam Thielen and DJ Chark, plus 2021 second-rounder Terrace Marshall, Mingo finds himself ahead of Marshall on the depth chart before the team's first preseason contest, despite having consistent issues with drops so far in camp, per David Newton of ESPN.com.

  • Jesse Matthews WR | ATL

Texans' Jesse Matthews: Injury details revealed

Matthews suffered a torn ACL before being placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Specifics of Matthews' injury were unknown when he was placed on IR earlier Tuesday; however, the reason is clear now. It's a tough break for the undrafted free agent out of San Diego State, who was working to earn a depth role in the Texans' receiving corps. He'll now focus on his recovery so he can make another attempt at an NFL roster in 2024.

  • Seahawks' Tyler Lockett: Increases workload Tuesday

Lockett (undisclosed) handled a mix of individual and team drills at Tuesday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

One day removed from Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reporting that Lockett was dealing with some undisclosed minor tightness, Lockett increased his activity level from Monday's work on a side field. Tuesday's workload marked Lockett's most since last week. It remains unclear if the Seahawks will allow him to get some preseason action, with the team's exhibition slate kicking off Thursday against the Vikings.

  • Jesse Matthews WR | ATL

Texans' Jesse Matthews: Moved to IR

The Texans have placed Matthews on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Matthews, an undrafted free agent, was reportedly having a strong camp prior to landing on IR. The San Diego State product's season may have come to a premature end unless both he and the Texans can eventually come to terms on an injury settlement once his health is back up to par.

  • Broncos' Brandon Johnson: Dealing with injury

Johnson suffered a leg injury during practice Tuesday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.

Johnson joined the Broncos in 2022 after going undrafted out of UCF. After initially starting on the team's practice squad, he earned a spot on the 53-man roster, appearing in seven contests and making six catches on 14 targets for 42 yards and a touchdown. He was having a terrific camp according to Renck, and was in the mix for a spot on the 53-man roster. The injury is not expected to be serious and he'll now focus on recovering and returning to the practice field.

  • Cooper Kupp WR | SEA

Rams' Cooper Kupp: Gets work in with training staff

Kupp (hamstring) was spotted working out with the Rams' strength and conditioning staff during the initial portion of Tuesday's practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Though Kupp wasn't in uniform, it's nonetheless a positive sign that he was able to fit in some light on-field activity. Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site previously noted that the team hoped to have Kupp back in the mix in time for joint practices with the Raiders, which are slated to take place during Week 2 of the team's preseason slate. For now, Kupp is viewed as day-to-day due to the hamstring injury that he sustained Aug. 1.
