  • Dareke Young WR | LV

Seahawks' Dareke Young: May need surgery

Head coach Pete Carroll noted Tuesday that Young (hip) is dealing with "an abductor thing" that may require surgery, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Young has been dealing with a hip/abdomen injury since Aug. 6, causing him to miss the Seahawks' first preseason game. He was able to play in Saturday's 22-14 preseason win over the Cowboys but failed to haul in any of his three targets. If Young is required to sit out for an extended period of time, that opens the door for undrafted rookie Jake Bobo to earn a depth spot on the final 53-man roster.

  • Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba: Slight fracture in wrist

Coach Pete Carroll noted Tuesday that Smith-Njigba has a "slight fracture" in his wrist and is slated to see a specialist, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

The report notes that Smith-Njigba has yet to have surgery to address the issue, and at this stage it's uncertain if the 2023 first-rounder will be ready for Week 1 action. Per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, the Seahawks are holding out hope that it's a three-to-four week injury for Smith-Njigba, but right now the wideout's status for the team's Sept. 10 game against the Rams is cloudy.

  • Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown: Expected to practice next week

The Lions expect St. Brown (ankle) to return to practice next week, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.

It was originally reported that St. Brown would practice this week, but the Lions are giving their star receiver a few more days to recover from his ankle issue. There's been no indication that St. Brown's status for the season opener versus Kansas City on Sept. 7 is in any jeopardy. "He's doing good," head coach Dan Campbell said of St. Brown before Tuesday's practice.

  • Alex Bachman WR | LV

Texans' Alex Bachman: Moves to IR

Bachman (undisclosed) was placed on the Texans' injured reserve Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Following this transaction, Bachman will spend the entire year sidelined unless he and the team can reach an injury settlement. Houston has not provided clarity on the extent of the injury. The 27-year-old was aiming to earn a spot on the team's 53-man roster providing depth at wide receiver.

  • Jaylen Waddle WR | DEN

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Optimism for Week 1

The Dolphins are optimistic Waddle (abdomen) will be able to play in Week 1 against the Chargers, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

"It's not ideal," WRs coach Wes Welker said of Waddle missing extended practice time. "I'm not too worried about it. It's more about his health and making sure he's ready to go." The third-year player hasn't practiced the last two weeks and won't play in the preseason finale. Any sort of missed time for Waddle would be bad news for Miami's top-heavy depth chart. Braxton Berrios, Cedrick Wilson, Robbie Chosen and River Cracraft are next up on the depth chart.

  • Hunter Renfrow WR | CAR

Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Battling shoulder injury

Renfrow (shoulder) is practicing in a non-contact jersey Tuesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.

Renfrow has yet to play this preseason due to the shoulder issue. Coming off a down 2022 in new coach Josh McDaniels' scheme, it's unclear what kind of role Renfrow is going to have this season following the additions of Jakobi Meyers and Phillip Dorsett in free agency and Tre Tucker in the third round of the 2023 Draft. Renfrow was the subject of trade rumors earlier in the offseason.

  • Alex Bachman WR | LV

Alex Bachman: Waived with injury designation

The Texans waived/injured Bachman (undisclosed) on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old spent a chunk of last season on Houston's practice squad before inking a reserve/future deal after the conclusion of Week 18. Headed into his fifth NFL season, Bachman is still looking for his first career target and catch. He caught two passes for 11 yards and one touchdown this preseason.

  • Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Back at practice

Montgomery (leg) was present for practice Tuesday, but didn't participate in team drills, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Now that he's back on the practice field, the versatile Montgomery will look to secure a change-of-pace role behind top back Rhamondre Stevenson and newcomer Ezekiel Elliott. The addition of Elliott solidifies the top of the Patriots' RB depth chart, which leaves Montgomery to compete with Pierre Strong, Kevin Harris and J.J. Taylor for slotting behind the team's top duo.

  • Browns' Anthony Schwartz: Sidelined with hamstring injury

Schwartz (hamstring) didn't practice Tuesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Schwartz was working off to the side with the training staff. Injuries have been his downfall since he was drafted 91st overall in 2021. He missed nine games across his first two seasons and is in a heated competition for a roster spot this summer. Missing the final preseason came could be a big blow to his chances of making the team.

  • Anthony Miller WR | BAL

49ers' Anthony Miller: Signs in San Francisco

The 49ers signed Miller to a contract Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Miller will get a chance to compete for an end-of-roster role in San Francisco, though Friday's exhibition matchup against the Chargers will be his last and only chance to log any preseason action. The 2018 second-round pick hasn't appear in a regular-season game since 2021, when he logged two appearances with the Texans and one with the Steelers.
