  • Rico Dowdle RB | PIT

Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Comes down with illness

Dowdle has an illness and now is considered questionable for Sunday's game at San Francisco.

Dowdle led the Cowboys backfield during the first six contests of the season, averaging 12.5 touches for 62.8 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring two TDs through the air. With Dowdle's status now up in the air for Week 8, Ezekiel Elliott, Dalvin Cook and Deuce Vaughn are the other running backs on the team's roster.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Texans' Joe Mixon: Another robust workload Sunday

Mixon rushed 25 times for 102 yards and a touchdown and secured four of six targets for 32 yards in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Colts on Sunday.

Another week, another true workhorse role for Mixon, who once again made good use of his opportunities by eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the third straight game and fourth time overall on the season. Mixon also extended his streak of games with at least one rushing touchdown to three via a 14-yard run early in the second quarter, and all three components of his receiving line were season highs as well. Mixon continues to profile as an elite fantasy asset at his position heading into a Week 9 road Halloween showdown against the Jets on Thursday night.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Over 100 yards in return

Taylor (ankle) rushed 20 times for 105 yards and a touchdown and secured his only target for 12 yards in the Colts' 23-20 loss to the Texans on Sunday.

Taylor looked no worse for wear after a three-game absence due to an ankle injury, with the star running back ripping off several solid gains on his way to his third 100-yard effort of the season. Taylor also found the end zone for the fifth time on the campaign via a one-yard run shortly before the halfway point of the fourth quarter, and he now has at least 88 rushing yards in four consecutive contests. Taylor will draw another tough-on-paper matchup when the Colts travel to face the Vikings next Sunday night.

  • Breece Hall RB | NYJ

Jets' Breece Hall: Gets 16 carries in loss

Hall rushed 16 times for 80 yards while catching one of three targets for nine yards in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Patriots.

Hall's 17 touches marked his third-lowest total of the season, as he didn't make much of a mark as a pass catcher while ceding a larger share of carries than usual to Braelon Allen (12 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown). Allen now has two rushing scores this season to Hall's three, and the Jets' inability to spend extended periods with the lead coupled to competition for valuable goal-line touches have cut into Hall's fantasy value. Hall and the Jets will try to end a five-game losing streak Thursday against the Texans.

  • Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Scores twice in Week 8 loss

Mostert rushed nine times for 19 yards and two touchdowns while catching one of two targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Cardinals.

Mostert helped the Dolphins welcome back starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) by capping Miami's opening drive with a one-yard touchdown run. The veteran running back added a six-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter, but he was otherwise outperformed on the ground by De'Von Achane, who had 10 carries for 97 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown. Achane is usually the favorite to lead Miami's backfield in touches and yards, but Mostert's success by the goal line is nothing new, as he produced a league-best 18 rushing touchdowns in 2023. Both Dolphins running backs will be in fantasy starter consideration in Week 9 against a Bills defense that has been better against the pass than the run.

  • De'Von Achane RB | MIA

Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Shines in QB's return

Achane rushed 10 times for 97 yards while catching six of eight targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Cardinals.

Achane got 47 of his 147 scrimmage yards on an explosive third-quarter run, and he fittingly capped that drive with a 12-yard touchdown catch. He finished with 16 touches while Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright combined for 12, but Mostert's nine carries included a pair of short touchdown runs. Achane and Mostert coexisted effectively in Achane's 2023 rookie season, and the return of Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) under center raises the ceiling for Miami's entire offense heading into a Week 9 trip to Buffalo.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Eclipses century mark in win

Barkley rushed 22 times for 108 yards and brought in his only target for three yards in the Eagles' 37-17 win over the Bengals on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts vultured a pair of one-yard rushing touchdown opportunities and also scored on the ground from seven yards out, leaving Barkley out in the cold as far as the end zone was concerned. However, the star running back still managed his second straight 100-yard effort and fourth overall of the season while equaling his second-highest carry total of the campaign. Barkley continues to look like a seamless fit in the Eagles' offensive attack heading into a Week 9 home matchup against the Jaguars.

  • Tank Bigsby RB | PHI

Jaguars' Tank Bigsby: Gains 86 yards on 20 touches

Bigsby rushed 18 times for 78 yards while catching two of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to Green Bay.

Bigsby served as the Jaguars' top back after Travis Etienne (hamstring) was deemed inactive prior to Sunday's kickoff. The 23-year-old Bigsby churned out a decent fantasy performance off of 20 touches, which bodes well for his already rising value heading into Week 9. Bigsby should remain a significant part of Jacksonville's offense heading into next Sunday's tilt against Philadelphia, irrespective of Etienne's status for that contest.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Packers' Josh Jacobs: Carries offense after QB exits

Jacobs rushed 25 times for 127 yards and two touchdowns while losing two yards on his only reception in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Jaguars.

Jacobs punched in Green Bay's first and final touchdowns en route to a narrow victory. The lead back's second-half performance was crucial after starting quarterback Jordan Love (groin) left Sunday's tilt in the third quarter. Jacobs is a significant part of the Packers' game plan whether or not Love is able to suit up against the Lions next Sunday, so fantasy managers should start the 26-year-old with confidence.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Cardinals' James Conner: Punches in fifth touchdown

Conner rushed 20 times for 53 yards and a touchdown while catching two of three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 28-27 win over the Dolphins.

Conner didn't have a strong game in terms of efficiency, but the tailback punched in his fifth rushing touchdown of the season. The 6-foot-1 rusher commanded 22 of Arizona's 23 touches doled out to running backs Sunday. With such a strong hold on the Cardinals' lead-back role, Conner makes for a strong play against the Bears (112.0 yards/game allowed to opposing RBs) next Sunday.
