Ezekiel Elliott RB | LAC
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Chest injury not a concern
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Thursday that he's not worried about the health of Elliott, who is nursing a chest injury, Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News reports. "Seems like [Elliott is] gonna be fine moving forward," Garrett said.
Elliott popped up on the Cowboys' injury report Wednesday with the chest issue, but since he was able to practice fully, it wasn't considered a major concern. Garrett's comments reinforce as much, so from a health standpoint, Elliott seems to be on sound footing through the first quarter of the season. Also looming over Elliott is his legal outlook, as it was reported Monday that the running back could receive a decision on the NFL's appeal of his preliminary injunction during the Cowboys' upcoming bye in Week 6, at which point it would be determined whether or not Elliott would be forced to serve the six-game suspension he was initially handed in August.

Branden Oliver RB | IND
Chargers' Branden Oliver: Doesn't practice Wednesday
Oliver (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
More information should come regarding Oliver's status as the week rolls along, but if he's out or limited at all Sunday against the Giants, Austin Ekeler would be the primary candidate for added touches behind starting running back Melvin Gordon.

Matt Breida RB | SF
49ers' Matt Breida: Shows up on injury report
Breida was a limited practice participant Wednesday with an ankle injury, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
This is Breida's first appearance on an NFL injury report, coming off a disappointing Week 4 in which he managed just 16 yards on a career-high nine carries. Even if his own injury turns out to be a non-concern, Breida may see his workload reduced Week 5 in Indianapolis, as Carlos Hyde (hip) seemingly avoided any setbacks in last Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Cardinals.

Jamaal Williams RB | NO
Packers' Jamaal Williams: Full practice Wednesday
Williams (knee) practiced fully Wednesday, Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Williams backed up his sentiment Tuesday that his left knee injury won't keep him on the sideline, where he remained for the final 41:12 of last Thursday's win over the Bears. Meanwhile, starting running back Ty Montgomery participated in a limited fashion Wednesday. If Montgomery plays through his broken ribs this Sunday against the Cowboys, Williams would be next in line for touches in the event Montgomery has a cap on his workload. That said, Williams may have to contend with fellow rookie Aaron Jones for touches after the latter accumulated 49 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries in Week 4.

Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Could be needed Week 5
Jones could have a key role in the Packers' offense Sunday in Dallas if Ty Montgomery (ribs) isn't able to play, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Jones did a nice job filling in for Montgomery and Jamaal Williams (knee) in the Packers' 35-14 win over the Bears in Week 4, taking 13 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. The performance made him one of the top Week 5 waiver adds, though Jones won't necessarily handle a major role come Sunday, considering Williams was a full participant at Wednesday's practice and Montgomery managed a limited session. In the event Williams ends up playing while Montgomery sits out, Jones likely would be asked to handle obvious passing downs, at the very least. The entire situation will require careful monitoring in the coming days.

Dwayne Washington RB | DEN
Lions' Dwayne Washington: Remains out at practice
Washington (quadriceps) didn't practice Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
In the midst of a multi-week hiatus due to a quad injury, Washington's absence Wednesday was predictable, to say the least. Only when Washington is able to take part in practice again will he be a candidate for an active status on game day.

Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC
Lions' Ameer Abdullah: Limited showing Wednesday
Abdullah (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Abdullah didn't make an appearance after the 13:29 mark of the fourth quarter during Sunday's win over Minnesota. Afterward, he revealed that he rolled his ankle and it appears the injury has lingered into his Week 5 preparation. On the heels of a week in which he amassed a season-high 94 rushing yards and his first touchdown of 2017, Abdullah's status will be watched closely as the weekend draws closer. In the end, the Lions may mix in Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner a bit more during upcoming game days in order to alleviate the pressure on Abdullah.

LeShun Daniels RB | NE
LeShun Daniels: Earns spot on San Diego practice squad
The Chargers signed Daniels to their practice squad Tuesday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Daniels was unable to secure a roster spot in a loaded Patriots' running-back corps coming out of training camp, but a spot on the San Diego practice squad could provide an easier path to him reaching the NFL. The undrafted rookie out of Iowa impressed during his final college season with 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Thomas Rawls RB | JAC
Seahawks' Thomas Rawls: Expected to have role in Week 5
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Rawls and Eddie Lacy will split the rushing workload with Chris Carson (ankle, lower leg) on injured reserve and likely out for the season, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
While Rawls was a healthy scratch for Sunday's 46-18 win over the Colts, Carroll's comments since the end of the game have hinted that the third-year back will have a major role in replacing Carson. Those duties primarily fell to Eddie Lacy in Week 4 and he responded with 52 yards on 11 carries, but it came on the heels of a Week 2 healthy scratch and a Week 3 where Lacy received zero snaps. It may be that Lacy was only active over Rawls on Sunday because the former is a bit better as a pass catcher and the Seahawks didn't have C.J. Prosise (ankle) available. It's quite possible Carroll prefers Rawls over Lacy as the team's lead runner, though both should get their chances Sunday against the Rams. Look for Carroll to ride the hot hand in such a scenario.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Admits to frustration with Week 4 workload
Gordon admitted he was frustrated with his workload after Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Eagles, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports. "I'm super frustrated at the moment, but I can't let it break me," Gordon said. "It all falls under the same thing. But obviously not getting the touches and not getting the win -- the win is the biggest thing. But then the fact that you feel like you can't even help, you're just kind of sitting back, it sucks because I just feel like I'm kind of helpless back there."
Gordon opened the season with three straight games of at least 16 touches, but he finished Sunday's loss with just 10 carries for 22 yards and one catch for seven yards. His snap share did jump back to 74 percent after sitting at 45 percent the previous week, suggesting that the bone bruise in his knee is no longer a major concern. The larger issue is that the Chargers have found themselves playing from behind in the second half each week, partially due to Gordon's inefficiency (3.1 yards per carry) on the ground. He made up for it with his strong work as a pass catcher Weeks 1 and 2, but he nonetheless finds himself in danger of losing more snaps to Branden Oliver and Austin Ekeler if his efficiency on the ground doesn't improve. Week 5 brings a road matchup with a Giants defense that was excellent against the run last season but is allowing 4.6 yards per carry and 142.8 rushing yards per game in 2017.
