Samaje Perine RB | CIN
Redskins' Samaje Perine: Ruled out Thursday
Perine (ankle) won't return to Thursday's game against the Jets.
Perine left early in Thursday's game to be evaluated for an ankle sprain prior to being ruled out. He only had one carry in the game, on which he churned out an impressive 30 yards. His status for next week's game against Denver is uncertain.

Jamaal Williams RB | NO
Packers' Jamaal Williams: Injures ankle against Steelers
Williams injured his ankle in Thursday's preseason tilt against Pittsburgh.
Williams had just two carries for two yards before exiting with his ankle injury. It's unclear how severe the issue is, but the team isn't likely to risk making it worse in a preseason game. Look for Joel Bouagnon and Akeem Judd to get some extra snaps with Williams sidelined for the time being.

Samaje Perine RB | CIN
Redskins' Samaje Perine: Evaluated for ankle injury
Perine left Thursday's game to be evaluated for an ankle sprain.
Perine moved up the depth chart when Derrius Guice (knee) was ruled out for the season. An ankle sprain would almost surely cost him some practice time, but the issue shouldn't affect him over the long term.

Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Out Thursday
Jones (hamstring, suspension) won't play in Thursday's game against Pittsburgh, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
Jones warmed up before Thursday's game but he won't see the field at all as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Look for Jamal Williams and Ty Montgomery to handle the first and second-team reps with Jones out.

Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Potentially playing Thursday
Jones (hamstring, suspension) is suited up for Thursday's preseason contest against the Steelers, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Jones didn't turn in a full practice in advance of this game due to a hamstring injury that his lingered from training camp into the preseason slate. As a result, he may merely go through pre-game warmups before residing on the sideline thereafter with the rest of the scratched players. If he doesn't suit up, the backfield will again be the domain of Jamaal Williams, Ty Montgomery, Joel Bouagnon and Akeem Judd.

Corey Clement RB | ARI
Eagles' Corey Clement: Not playing Thursday
Clement (undisclosed) won't suit up for Thursday's preseason contest in New England, Derrick Gunn of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Clement has been a non-participant at practice since the Eagles' exhibition opener last Thursday due to a lower-body injury. Neither the running back nor anyone in the organization have clarified the nature of the issue, but coach Doug Pederson has said Clement will be available by Week 1, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Joining Clement on the sideline Thursday will be Darren Sproles, per Gunn, leaving plenty of touches for the likes of Wendell Smallwood and Matt Jones once Jay Ajayi vacates the backfield.

Thomas Rawls RB | JAC
Jets' Thomas Rawls: Should get a look Thursday
Rawkls (undisclosed) could see a decent amount of snaps in Thursday's preseason game against Washington, NJ.com reports.
Eric Allen of the Jets' official site relays that Rawls worked in team drills this week after not playing in the team's preseason opener. With Isaiah Crowell (concussion) and Elijah McGuire (foot) out, Rawls and George Atkinson could see their share of snaps Thursday night, especially if the team decides to cap the workload of holdover Bilal Powell.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Says knee is ready to go
Though Cook (knee) doesn't know if he'll play in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars, he noted that he'll be ready for Week 1 even if he doesn't see any exhibition action, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "My knee is ready to go," Cook relayed Thursday. "I'm ready to play.'"
Given that Cook is bouncing back from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 4 last season, it's not surprising that he's being managed carefully in advance of Week 1. Barring any setbacks, though, Cook is in line to be a go when the Vikings take on the 49ers on Sept. 9. At that time, the main question will be just how much work the promising second-year back is destined to see out of the gate. If his touches are scaled back at all early on, Latavius Murray -- who led the way in filling in for Cook last year after his injury -- remains available to lend a hand.

Joe Mixon RB | HOU
Bengals' Joe Mixon: Back in business
Mixon (undisclosed) was on the field for the first running play of the day at Thursday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Mixon left Wednesday's practice early, but his return to the field in such short order confirms that the issue that caused his exit was a minor one. With Jeremy Hill no longer around, a healthy Mixon is on track to head the Bengals' backfield this season. It's less certain how many snaps he might cede to Giovani Beranrd, who is on hand to reprise his change-of-pace/pass-catching role for the team.

Saquon Barkley RB | PHI
Giants' Saquon Barkley: Spectator for third straight practice
Barkley (hamstring) didn't participate with the main group during the Giants' practice Thursday and was instead working out off to the side, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
With Barkley a non-participant in practice for the third straight day while he recovers from the left hamstring strain, it's looking unlikely that he'll be available for the Giants' second exhibition game Friday in Detroit. While he was idle Wednesday, Barkley used the time to work on his pass catching, with the running back getting some work in on a JUGS machine, according to Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com. Barkley will need to take contact in some capacity before the Giants sign off on returning him to game action.
