Jonathan Williams RB | WAS
Colts' Jonathan Williams: Won't return Saturday
Williams (chest) has been ruled out of Saturday's preseason contest versus the Browns.
Williams went to the locker room before the rest of the Colts as halftime approached, and a diagnosis was released once play resumed. Considering he has no chance to return Saturday, he may be dealing with a serious injury, which hurts his prospects as he attempts to fend off newcomer D'Onta Foreman for a depth RB role.

Jonathan Williams RB | WAS
Colts' Jonathan Williams: Doubtful to return Saturday
Williams suffered a chest injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, and his return is doubtful, Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Williams was busy throughout the Colts' first preseason contest as he collected 57 total yards on 13 touches, but his bid for a spot on the 53-man roster would certainly be affected in a negative manner if this chest injury were to keep him sidelined for an extended period. Newcomer D'Onta Foreman could now be in line for additional reps behind Marlon Mack and the versatile Nyheim Hines.

Nick Chubb RB | HOU
Browns' Nick Chubb: Won't play Saturday
Chubb has been ruled out for Saturday's preseason contest against the Colts, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
The Browns have elected not to risk the health of their starting running back at Lucas Oil Stadium during the team's second preseason tilt, lending reserves Kareem Hunt (suspension), D'Ernest Johnson, A.J. Ouellette and Trayone Gray additional opportunities for reps with Chubb sidelined. Chubb's next chance to appear in preseason action will come Aug. 23 against the Buccaneers.

Dare Ogunbowale RB | LV
Buccaneers' Dare Ogunbowale: Makes mark as pass catcher
Ogunbowale rushed 13 times for 34 yards and brought in all three of his targets for 54 yards in the Buccaneers' 16-14 preseason win over the Dolphins on Friday.
A couple of developments in Ogunbowale's favor unfolded Friday. One was that one of his primary competitors for the third running back spot, Andre Ellington, struggled with just 15 rushing yards on six carries and also lost a fumble. Ogunbowale's 2.6 yards per tote was just marginally better, but he held onto the ball and also ripped off a game-long 41-yard gain on one of his three catches. Furthermore, Ogunbowale had an even bigger gain wiped out by penalty, as he'd rumbled 45 yards on a Ryan Griffin screen pass on the first drive of the second half on a play in which rookie guard Zack Bailey was flagged for holding. The second-year back also had two touchdowns in last week's exhibition opener, and Greg Auman of The Athletic reports that following Friday's game, Arians also labeled Ogunbowale the "second-best pass protector" among the running backs.

Ezekiel Elliott RB | LAC
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Travels back to Dallas
Despite an ongoing contract dispute, Elliott has flown back to Dallas after training in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for several weeks, WFAA's Mike Leslie reports.
The contract holdout persisted throughout the entirety of training camp as expected, but Elliott and his team traveled back home to Dallas this weekend while the Cowboys prepare for their second preseason tilt against the Rams on Saturday in Hawaii. Elliott's return to the area doesn't exactly translate to expedited negotiations moving forward, but at least he'll be physically available upon the potential agreement of a new deal.

Raheem Mostert RB | LV
49ers' Raheem Mostert: Back at practice
Mostert (concussion) is practicing Saturday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Mostert wasn't expected to participate in the team's preseason contest Monday against the Broncos, but the 27-year-old's practice status could change things around, particularly considering Jerick McKinnon also remains a question mark with a sore knee. The 49ers likely will be cautious with Mostert considering his expected role on special teams and as a third-down specialist, so it's safe to assume his preseason game-time status will come closer to Monday's 8:00 p.m. EST start time.

Elijah Hood RB | JAC
Jaguars' Elijah Hood: Signs with Jacksonville
Hood signed a contract with the Jaguars on Saturday, Phillip Heilman of The Athletic reports.
Primary backup Alfred Blue picked up an ankle injury during the team's second preseason contest, joining Ryquell Armstead (head) as backs with multiweek injuries. As a result, Hood will slot in behind Thomas Rawls on the team's depth chart and could wind up receiving some work in the preseason should Blue or Armstead continue to miss time.

Devin Singletary RB | NYG
Bills' Devin Singletary: Totals 31 yards in win
Singletary caught three of five passes for 25 yards and added six yard on two carries during Friday's 27-14 win over Carolina.
Singletary rotated in on Buffalo's opening field-goal drive becoming the featured back two drives later. It's been so far so good for the rookie back, who is the young gun in a sea of veteran backs in Western New York. After coming out of Florida Atlantic, he has reportedly garnered first-team reps in camp and has put together some solid -- if not strong -- preseason appearances. Singletary might be a big part of the Bills' future. The question is whether their present holds on long enough in 2019 to make him a relative non-factor as a rookie.
-
Ronald Jones RB | DAL
Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Quiet in Game 2
Jones rushed for seven yards on two carries during Friday's 16-14 win over Miami. He added a 15-yard kick return during the contest.
Both of Jones and Peyton Barber got their only two carries of the game during Tampa Bay's opening possession, neither doing much during the drive that ended in a punt. Tampa Bay ran the bulk of their first-team skill players out for just the first drive and so it's hard to make much of anything that happened Friday. Coming off a rough rookie campaign, Jones still seems poised to share carries with Barber, who currently sits atop the depth chart, but the picture should become clearer Friday against Cleveland.

Cordarrelle Patterson RB | PIT
Bears' Cordarrelle Patterson: Sidelined Friday
Patterson isn't expected to suit up for Friday's preseason contest against the Giants.
Patterson will miss his second consecutive exhibition match, joining the rest of Chicago's starting receivers on the bench. Coach Matt Nagy appears to be taking a cautious approach to the health of his key players, so it wouldn't be surprising if Patterson were kept on ice until the regular season. The 28-year-old appears on track to serve as the Bears' primary kick returner and No. 4 receiver.
