  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: Rejoins team Friday

Barkley (ankle/COVID-19 protocols) is back at the team facility Friday after his positive test for the virus was determined to be a false positive, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

There were early indications Barkley's result may have been a false positive after he landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, though coach Joe Judge said Thursday he didn't anticipate the tailback being available for Sunday's matchup with the Raiders. The 24-year-old should be activated from the COVID list now that he's back with the team, but it remains to be seen if his ankle is healthy enough for him to return to game action for the first time since Week 5. Devontae Booker should continue to work as New York's lead back should Barkley be unavailable this weekend.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Flashes with rushing TD in win

Hines rushed six times for 74 yards and a touchdown, secured four of six targets for 34 yards, returned one punt for 10 yards and ran back one kickoff for 15 yards in the Colts' 45-30 win over the Jets on Thursday night.

Hines opened the scoring on the night with an impressive 34-yard scamper in the first quarter -- only his second touchdown of the season -- and he remained highly efficient by averaging eight yards per carry on his other five totes as well. Hines also recorded multiple grabs for the second straight game and fifth time overall this season, setting him up well for a favorable Week 10 matchup against the Jaguars a week from Sunday.

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

Jets' Michael Carter: Garners 86 total yards in loss

Carter rushed 13 times for 49 yards and brought in one of two targets for 37 yards in the Jets' 45-30 loss to the Colts on Thursday night.

Carter once again was the Jets' clear-cut leader in rushing touches and made excellent use of his one target as well. The rookie back's overall opportunities were limited by game script Thursday, but it was encouraging to see Carter log double-digit carries for the fifth straight contest anyhow. Carter's next matchup shapes up as an appreciably more difficult one, however, as the Jets host the Bills a week from Sunday in a Week 10 divisional clash.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Rips off long TD in win

Taylor rushed 19 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns and secured both targets for 28 yards in the Colts' 45-30 win over the Jets on Thursday night. He also fumbled once but recovered.

Taylor snapped a 7-7 tie with an impressive 21-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, but he provided the splash play of the night with a 78-yard rumble down the right sideline in the latter portion of the third quarter in which he flashed his elite speed. The second-year back has now eclipsed the 100-yard mark in three of his last four games, and Thursday's pair of scores brought his touchdown tally over the last six games to eight. Taylor also continues to enjoy a steady role in the passing game -- he's recorded multiple grabs on five occasions over that span -- and could be poised for another big performance in a Week 10 divisional matchup against the vulnerable Jaguars a week from Sunday.

  • Chase Edmonds RB | WAS

Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: Remains limited at practice

Edmonds (shoulder) logged a limited practice Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Edmonds is operating under a cap on his reps this week, likely due to the play in which he left last Thursday's game against the Packers in discomfort after getting tackled. He stayed in the contest and ended up with a 59 percent snap share and 10 touches. Meanwhile, backfield mate James Conner rang in with 37 and five, respectively. If Edmonds' health remains a concern heading into the weekend, there's a chance he could be the player to take a backseat at running back. Still, it's difficult to project the Edmonds-Conner breakdown, especially with a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff on tap Sunday in San Francisco.

  • Marlon Mack RB | ARI

Colts' Marlon Mack: Made inactive Thursday night

Mack is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Jets.

With Mack a healthy scratch Thursday night, Deon Jackson is slated to serve as the Colts' No. 3 back behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines.

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Limited at practice Thursday

Mitchell (ribs) was limited at Thursday's practice, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

After not practicing at all Wednesday, Mitchell was on the field one day later wearing a blue non-contact jersey, which signaled the 49ers were capping his reps as he deals with a rib issue. Indeed, he operated under practice limitations, giving him one more chance to put in a full showing before week's end. Elsewhere in the backfield, JaMycal Hasty, Trey Sermon and Trenton Cannon avoided the injury report this week, while Jeff Wilson (knee) was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list. No matter, if Mitchell is available this Sunday, he'll be the 49ers' lead runner against the Cardinals.

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Seen at practice Thursday

Mitchell (ribs) was present at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Mitchell was donning a non-contact blue jersey, so if he fits in some work he likely won't be more than a limited participant. He's working his way through a rib issue, making it understandable for the 49ers to avoid any unnecessary dings on the practice field. In any case, Friday's injury report will be telling as it pertains to Mitchell's status for a Week 9 matchup with the Cardinals.

  • Bears' Damien Williams: No practice Thursday

    Williams (knee) didn't practice Thursday.

Williams hasn't been a huge beneficiary of David Montgomery's stint on injured reserve due to a sprained left knee, earning 21 carries for 66 yards and one touchdown and hauling in three of four targets for 23 yards in three appearances over the last four games. During the Bears' Week 8 loss to the 49ers, Williams exited early with a knee injury, and his lack of activity Thursday doesn't bode well for upcoming game action. If Montgomery, who was designated to return from IR on Thursday, is cleared to return Monday in Pittsburgh, a decision on Williams' availability may be made easier for coach Matt Nagy.

  • Saints' Dwayne Washington: Logs full practice

Washington (neck) practiced in full Thursday.

Washington was limited in practice Wednesday but was able to give it a full go on Thursday. He hasn't seen the field since Week 5 against The Football Team, when he was injured on a helmet-to-helmet hit while on punt coverage. With the recent addition of Mark Ingram, it is likely Washington will primarily be relegated to special teams if he suits up Sunday against the Falcons.
