  • Master Teague: Waived off IR

Teague (ankle) and the Steelers have come to terms on an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

This move comes one day after Teague reverted to the Steelers' injured reserve following his failure to be claimed off waivers. He now has the freedom to find a new opportunity once he fully recovers from his ankle injury.

  • Breece Hall RB | NYJ

Jets' Breece Hall: Adjusting to pro game

Hall conceded that he's still adjusting to working in a crowded Jets running back group that also includes Michael Carter and Tevin Coleman, John Pullano of the team's official site reports. "I'm progressing every day," Hall said. "But learning this offense has been kind of different to what I did in college. There are a lot more nuances and a lot of little things that I am still learning."

Hall, whom the Jets selected in the second round of April's draft, logged 253 carries in 12 games during his final college season at Iowa State, but as he begins his professional career, he'll face competition for reps. It's worth noting that Carter was among the key players rested by the Jets in Monday's preseason game against the Falcons, a contest in which Hall started and logged four carries for one yard. Hall nonetheless brings plenty of upside to the table, but he'll have to earn his standing in the Jets backfield out of the gate this season. So far, though, he's impressed head coach Robert Saleh, who said that Hall "has unbelievable and incredible confidence" and "tracks the ball very well."

  • Ronnie Rivers RB | LAR

Seahawks' Ronnie Rivers: Signs with Seahawks

Rivers signed a contract with the Seahawks on Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

The 23-year-old running back is slated to add depth for Seattle, after the team placed linebacker Jon Rhattigan on the reserve/physically unable to perform list Wednesday. Rivers signed with the Cardinals back in May but was waived earlier this month. With just days before the Seahawks kick off their preseason finale Friday against the Cowboys, there's uncertainty if the rookie will suit up given the short turnaround. Among Rivers' competition for a roster spot in the team's backfield is Josh Johnson and Darwin Thompson.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Likely to be held out Friday

McCaffrey is unlikely to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Bills, though many of the Panthers other starters will suit up, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Coming off consecutive injury-marred seasons, McCaffrey likely will be held out of a third straight exhibition despite enjoying an injury-free summer. His absence also gives the Panthers a chance to evaluate prospective backups D'Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard, though neither is expected to see much work behind McCaffrey when the Panthers host the Browns in Week 1.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Could sit out final exhibition

McCaffrey is a candidate to be rested in Friday's preseason game against the Bills, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Newton notes that for the time being, the Panthers appear to be trending toward playing a number of their starters in the contest, but McCaffrey could be held out of the contest. Given the extensive time McCaffrey has missed due to injuries the past two seasons, Carolina has extra incentive to keep him healthy in advance of Week 1.

  • Damien Harris RB | BUF

Patriots' Damien Harris: Exits practice with possible injury

Harris left Wednesday's practice early with an apparent injury and didn't return, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.

Harris walked off without assistance while talking to training staff. Should he miss the team's final preseason game Friday versus the Raiders, Rhamondre Stevenson and Ty Montgomery would likely get most of the first-team snaps. All three took snaps with Mac Jones and the first-team offense in last week's exhibition win over Carolina, with Harris getting the start and the first carry.

  • Packers' Patrick Taylor: Jockeying for roster spot

Taylor is battling Tyler Goodson and Dexter Williams for the third running back spot on the Packers' initial 53-man roster, Mike Spofford of Packers.com reports.

Taylor toted eight carries for an unremarkable 27 yards in Green Bay's second preseason matchup versus New Orleans, but his performance in the Packers' upcoming preseason finale at Kansas City could be what ultimately determines his position ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. The ability to contribute on special teams will likely be a significant factor in his team's decision after the Pack's abysmal performance in that area in 2021, and Taylor has more recent experience there than Goodson or Williams.

  • Raiders' Brandon Bolden: In mix for passing-down role

Bolden and Ameer Abdullah both have been getting passing-down work with the first-team offense in recent practices, Tashan Reed and Vic Tafur or The Athletic report.

Earlier reports suggested Abdullah was the favorite for the role as Las Vegas' preferred pass-catching back, but Bolden is a capable receiver who has a lengthy history with Raiders head coach Josh McDaniel. Both backs have ample experience on special teams, so the Raiders can afford to keep four running backs on the Week 1 roster, with the two mentioned above joined by probable starter Josh Jacobs and rookie Zamir White.

  • Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC

Raiders' Ameer Abdullah: Could split role with Bolden

Abdullah and Brandon Bolden split third-down work in Tuesday's practice, and both could have roles as part of a likely backfield committee, Tashan Reed and Vic Tafur or The Athletic report.

Josh Jacobs seems to be on track for the Week 1 start, but Abdullah and Bolden are candidates to steal passing-down snaps, and rookie Zamir White is a threat to take short-yardage work. While four-man backfield committees aren't common, the Raiders could do it without much sacrifice elsewhere on the roster, as Bolden and Abdullah both have ample experience playing special teams. It's also still possible head coach Josh McDaniel chooses one of Abdullah and Bolden over the other for a role that would mostly entail playing time in hurry-up situations and on third downs.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

    Kenyan Drake: Officially released

The Raiders released Drake on Tuesday.

The move was expected in the absence of the Raiders fielding a last-minute trade offer, but now Drake is free to catch on with another team looking to add backfield depth. Until the 28-year-old finds a landing spot, he'll remain a speculative fantasy option, but in the right context Drake could earn enough playing time down the road to earn consideration in fantasy lineups.
