Alvin Kamara RB | NO
Saints' Alvin Kamara: Quiet in Week 1 win
Kamara rushed nine times for 39 yards and brought in three of four targets for seven yards in the Saints' 27-26 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
The Saints were down by a 16-7 margin at halftime and 23-10 going into the fourth quarter, which certainly conspired to limit Kamara's opportunities on the ground. The versatile star also surprisingly saw jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill vulture four rush attempts that he parlayed into 81 yards and a touchdown, although Kamara still outpaced backfield mate Mark Ingram by five carries. There naturally should be much more productive days ahead for Kamara, with the next opportunity coming in a tough Week 2 NFC South matchup against the Buccaneers next Sunday.

Michael Carter RB | TEN
Jets' Michael Carter: Totals 100 yards in lead role
Carter rushed 10 times for 60 yards and caught seven of nine targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Ravens.
Carter was the lead back in a Jets offense that went with a game plan heavy on runs and short passes, though it wasn't all good for the second-year pro, who had an egregious drop on a 4th-and-goal play in the fourth quarter. Rookie second-round pick Breece Hall got just 12 touches and lost a fumble, further solidifying Carter as New York's top option heading into the Jets' Week 2 trip to Cleveland. A change in offensive approach is also unlikely as long as Joe Flacco's filling in for the injured Zach Wilson (knee), so Carter should be locked into significant volume for at least the next couple games, though in a low-octane offense.

Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Out-touched by Carter
Hall rushed six times for 23 yards and caught six of 10 targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Ravens. He also lost a fumble.
Michael Carter got most of the touches in the Jets' backfield, and deservedly so. Carter totaled 100 yards on 17 touches while Hall mustered only 61 scrimmage yards and fumbled just outside the red zone in the third quarter. Hall will likely start to take on a larger portion of New York's backfield snaps as the season goes on, but the rookie second-round pick is on the lower end of a platoon with Carter heading into the Jets' Week 2 trip to Cleveland.

Elijah Mitchell RB | PHI
49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Seen with brace on right leg
Mitchell was spotted leaving the locker room with a large brace on his right leg after Sunday's 19-10 loss at Chicago, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Mitchell was abruptly ruled out after the 49ers' fourth possession of the game with a knee injury. There was no context before or after his departure, and while he was walking slowly without bending his right leg on his way to the team bus, he was doing so without crutches. Coach Kyle Shanahan likely will touch on Mitchell's health in the next day or two, but if the running back misses any time, it may again be the Deebo Samuel show out of San Francisco's backfield for the foreseeable future. Samuel ended up with eight carries for 52 yards and one TD in Week 1 (along with two catches for 14 yards on eight targets), while Jeff Wilson had nine rushes for 22 yards and two receptions for eight yards. Meanwhile, undrafted rookie Jordan Mason didn't have a touch, and 2022 third-round pick Tyrion Davis-Price was inactive.

Chase Edmonds RB | WAS
Dolphins' Chase Edmonds: Works as lead back in Week 1
Edmonds rushed 12 times for 25 yards and caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 20-7 win over the Patriots.
Edmonds got 16 touches to Raheem Mostert's six, but neither new Dolphins running back found much running room against the stout New England front. While his yardage total was pedestrian, Edmonds' prominent usage in his Dolphins debut suggests better days are ahead, and one could come as soon as Week 2 against the Ravens.

Jonathan Taylor RB | IND
Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Tramples Texans again Sunday
Taylor rushed 31 times for 161 yards and a touchdown and brought in four of seven targets for 14 yards in the Colts' 20-20 overtime tie with the Texans on Sunday.
It's difficult to believe the Colts didn't prevail in a game during which Taylor furnished such a spectacular stat line, as the Pro Bowl running back seemingly did everything within his power to facilitate a victory. The elite rushing numbers are par for the course for Taylor against the Texans -- he victimized them for 288 yards and four touchdowns over two games last season. The mammoth yardage total was complemented by a two-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown that began the Colts' comeback, and Taylor will now take on the task of mounting a successful encore to the season-opening breakout in a Week 2 road matchup against the Jaguars next Sunday.

Joe Mixon RB | HOU
Bengals' Joe Mixon: Heavy usage in difficult game
Mixon ran for 82 yards on 27 carries and caught seven passes for 63 yards on nine targets against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The mammoth volume was partly afforded by the overtime period, but Mixon saw consistent usage all game before then too. He did his part in what was mostly an overwhelmed offense, as the Steelers defense knocked around the Bengals most of the game, especially early on. Tee Higgins (concussion) missed most of the game, which might have affected Mixon's target count, but even backup Samaje Perine saw five targets in this one. Mixon may continue to see a solid pass-catching role in Week 2 against the Cowboys if Higgins remains out.

Rhamondre Stevenson RB | NE
Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Totals nine touches in Week 1 loss
Stevenson rushed eight times for 25 yards and caught both of his targets for two yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Dolphins.
Rather than featuring Stevenson in the passing game following James White's retirement, the Patriots instead turned to Ty Montgomery, who scored the team's only touchdown from six yards out on one of his four targets. Stevenson's in a 50/50 platoon with Damien Harris on early downs, while Montgomery's locked in as the top backfield option in passing situations heading into the Patriots' Week 2 trip to Pittsburgh.

Nick Chubb RB | HOU
Browns' Nick Chubb: Spectacular day on ground
Chubb rushed 22 times for 141 yards and secured his only target for two yards in the Browns' 26-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Chubb enjoyed one of his trademark workhorse performances to open the season, consistently ripping off gains against the Panthers' front throughout the afternoon. Chubb's longest run was a relatively modest 25 yards, underscoring how effective he was on a carry-to-carry basis. While backfield mate Kareem Hunt flashed with a rushing and receiving touchdown apiece, Chubb naturally retains no shortage of fantasy value heading into a Week 2 home matchup against the Jets next Sunday.
-
Damien Harris RB | BUF
Patriots' Damien Harris: Out-touches Stevenson by one
Harris rushed nine times for 48 yards and caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 20-7 loss to Miami.
Harris got one more touch than Rhamondre Stevenson, who turned eight carries and two catches into just 27 scrimmage yards. A 50/50 backfield split in the run-heavy Patriots offense should work just fine for Harris, especially if he gets the majority of goal-line carries after punching in 15 rushing touchdowns last season. He'll take on the Steelers in Week 2.
