  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Foot issue may not be serious

The foot injury Harris sustained in Sunday's overtime win over the Bengals isn't believed to be a serious concern, Michael Giardi of NFL Network reports.

Though Giardi's report adds a degree of optimism with regard to Harris' long-term outlook, the running back's status will still need to be monitored closely in advance of the Steelers' Week 2 game against the Patriots, given that the 24-year-old previously dealt with a Lisfranc sprain in his foot during training camp. If Harris ends up sitting out Week 2, Jaylen Warren would presumably be first in line to lead the Steelers' backfield.

  • Dameon Pierce RB | PHI

Texans' Dameon Pierce: Modest production in debut

Pierce rushed 11 times for 33 yards and secured his only target for six yards in the Texans' 20-20 tie with the Colts on Sunday.

The rookie ultimately didn't serve as the lead back in terms of volume Sunday, with veteran Rex Burkhead outpacing him by three carries and seven targets. Both players generally found running room at a premium against a stingy Colts front that limited Houston to 2.8 yards per carry overall, but Pierce should certainly continue getting his fair share of opportunity over the course of his rookie campaign as head coach Lovie Smith tries to protect second-year quarterback Davis Mills. Pierce's first chance to improve on the pedestrian pro debut comes in a Week 2 road matchup against the Broncos next Sunday.

  • Lions' Jamaal Williams: Vultures two touchdowns

Williams rushed 11 times for 28 yards with two touchdowns while catching one of two targets for two yards during Sunday's 38-35 loss to Philadelphia.

Williams' production looks pedestrian compared to that of D'Andre Swift, who totaled 175 yards on 18 touches. While Williams looks primed to serve as a touchdown vulture after getting four of five goal-line snaps Sunday, Swift dominated the work in nearly every other offensive situation. If that trend continues, Williams won't have much fantasy value on days that he doesn't find the end zone. Next up for Detroit is a home matchup against Washington.

  • Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Six touches in Dolphins debut

Mostert rushed five times for 16 yards and caught his only target for another 16 yards in Sunday's 20-7 win over the Patriots.

Mostert got six touches to Chase Edmonds' 16, as Edmonds asserted himself as Miami's lead back. Miami's two touchdowns came on a defensive play and a long pass, so the Dolphins didn't show which running back would get the all-important carries by the goal line. Mostert should remain in a change-of-pace role behind Edmonds in Week 2 against the Ravens.

  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Leads backfield Sunday

Robinson (Achilles) rushed 11 times for 66 yards and a touchdown while catching one of two targets for three yards and another score in Sunday's 28-22 loss to Washington.

Robinson was removed from the injury report before the game despite suffering a torn Achilles last December. The 2020 waiver-wire sensation didn't appear limited at all, quickly outplaying Travis Etienne Jr. (initially named starter by the team) and taking over most of the work in the second half. It is unclear if head coach Doug Pederson will now use Robinson as the lead back or if he truly wants to split work between the two heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Colts. Regardless, Robinson -- and his miraculous recovery from an Achilles tear nine months ago -- should immediately become one of the hotter waiver claims once the dust settles from Week 1.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Ravens' Kenyan Drake: Modest production as lead back

Drake rushed 11 times for 31 yards and caught his only target for 15 yards in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Jets.

Drake led the Ravens in carries and rushing yards with J.K. Dobbins (knee) inactive, but the veteran running back didn't find much running room, as Baltimore relied on Lamar Jackson's arm and its defense to pull away. While Drake should maintain the lead role over Mike Davis and Justice Hill if Dobbins continues to sit out in Week 2 against Miami, Drake's far from a lock to provide much fantasy value in that role.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Replaces injured starter

Warren ran for seven yards on three carries and drew one target in a 23-20 overtime win over the Bengals on Sunday.

Starter Najee Harris left the game after suffering a foot injury in the fourth quarter, which could portend a serious issue given how close the game was at the time. If Harris remains sidelined for the Week 2 matchup against the Patriots, Warren may be in line for a spot start. The undrafted rookie from Oklahoma State was decisively ahead of fourth-year back Benny Snell in Sunday's pecking order, as the latter was active but saw no touches after Harris' exit.

  • Miles Sanders RB | DAL

Eagles' Miles Sanders: Logs 15 touches in Week 1 win

Sanders rushed 13 times for 96 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for nine yards in the Eagles' 38-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.

Sanders was outpaced in carries only by his quarterback, as Jalen Hurts rushed a whopping 17 times overall. Otherwise, Sanders was the clear-cut pace setter among himself and backfield mates Kenneth Gainwell (five carries) and Boston Scott (four carries). The distribution offers some clarity to fantasy managers for the time being with respect to the Eagles backfield, and Sanders' strong performance, which included a one-yard touchdown run, also lends credence to the notion he should enjoy lead-back status again in a Week 2 home matchup versus the Vikings on Monday night, Sept. 19.

  • Falcons' Cordarrelle Patterson: Strong performance in loss

Patterson notched 22 carries for 120 yards and one touchdown while catching three of five targets for 16 yards during Sunday's 27-26 loss versus New Orleans.

Patterson was held out for the majority of Atlanta's offseason work, which prompted rumors that rookie fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier may carve out a sizable role to start the season. However, Allgeier was a healthy scratch, while Patterson dominated the snaps in the season opener. The veteran running back's absence this summer was meant to help him stay healthier as the season progresses, because his production dropped significantly in the stretch run of the 2022 season after a hot start in his first season as a full-time running back. Patterson proved the start to last year was no fluke, and he'll look to maintain his strong play against the Rams in Week 2.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Totals 175 yards

Swift rushed 15 times for 144 yards with one touchdown while catching three of three targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 38-35 loss to Philadelphia.

Swift exploded out of the gate within an offense that now has an improved passing game in addition to its strong offensive line. While his touchdown upside will clearly be capped this season by Jamaal Williams, who saw four of give goal-line snaps while scoring twice, Swift saw all of the snaps on third down and over double the snaps of Williams overall. The result was 175 total yards for Swift, who still averaged over 6.7 yards per carry if you take out his game-high 50-yard scamper. The third-year pro will look to keep rolling in Week 2 at home against a respectable Commanders defense.
