  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Bengals' Samaje Perine: Limited role in loss

Perine had one carry for two yards and caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.

Perine continued to operate as the Bengals' clear No. 2 running back behind Joe Mixon, playing just 14 of the team's 70 offensive snaps. With Mixon being used as a true workhorse, Perine will likely find it difficult to see enough usage to reach fantasy relevance. The 27-year-old backup remains off the fantasy radar ahead of a matchup with the Jets in Week 3.

  • Chuba Hubbard RB | CAR

Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Plays two offensive snaps

Hubbard failed to record a single carry in Sunday's 19-16 loss to the Giants.

Hubbard took over as the Panthers' primary kickoff returner in the contest with Andre Roberts (knee) on injured reserve. Though not involved in the offensive game plan, the 23-year-old totaled 75 yards on three kickoff returns. Barring an injury to Christian McCaffrey, it's likely Hubbard will struggle to see much of an opportunity in Carolina's backfield, especially since D'Onta Foreman has established himself as the team's No. 2 running back. The second-year back will likely to continue to focus on handling kickoff return duties for the foreseeable future.

  • Marlon Mack RB | ARI

49ers' Marlon Mack: Signed to San Fran's active roster

The 49ers signed Mack to the active roster from their practice squad Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Mack will get the promotion after news broke that rookie third-round pick Tyrion Davis-Price (ankle) will be sidelined for a few weeks. The team already lost Elijah Mitchell (knee) to injured reserve, so Mack will compete with undrafted rookie Jordan Mason for backup snaps behind Jeff Wilson. The former Colt has amassed at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage twice in his career, but he's struggled to stick in the NFL since he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in September 2020.

  • Hassan Haskins RB | LAC

Titans' Hassan Haskins: Relieves Henry against Bills

Haskins carried the ball nine times for 37 yards in Monday's 41-7 loss to the Bills.

Haskins tallied the first carries of his NFL career, though only one came in the first half. The majority of his work came in the final 18 minutes of game time, after starters such as Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill were pulled. Haskins managed some nice gains -- highlighted by a nine-yard rush early in the fourth quarter -- but he'll likely return to a third-string role once Dontrell Hilliard (hamstring) can retake the field.

  • Boston Scott RB | PIT

Eagles' Boston Scott: Receives five touches

Scott rushed four times for 19 yards and caught his lone target for two more yards in Monday's win over Minnesota.

Scott and Kenneth Gainwell split backup running back duties in Week 2, with Gainwell getting the edge in snaps (19 to 15) and Scott getting the edge in touches (five to three). That marks a change from Week 1, when Scott seemed clearly like the No. 3 back. Even if Scott and Gainwell were combined into one player, they'd be averaging a mere 40.5 yards per game on 10.5 touches, so neither will have much fantasy value as long as Miles Sanders remains healthy.

  • Eagles' Kenneth Gainwell: Not used much in Week 2

Gainwell rushed twice for seven yards and pulled in one of his two targets for an 11-yard reception in Monday's win over the Vikings.

Gainwell looked like the clear No. 2 back on the Eagles' depth chart in Week 1, but he wasn't significantly ahead of Boston Scott this time around. He only had a small edge over Scott in snaps (19 to 15), while Scott beat him in touches (five to three). Gainwell didn't help his case by missing a screen pass midway through the fourth quarter, with the ball deflecting off him for a Jordan Hicks interception, something which could potentially tilt things in Scott's favor going forward.

  • Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC

Raiders' Ameer Abdullah: Takes lone reception 23 yards

Abdullah caught his only target for 23 yards in Sunday's overtime loss to the Cardinals.

Abdullah played 14 offensive snaps in the pass-down role behind starter Josh Jacobs with fellow running back Brandon Bolden (hamstring) sidelined for the contest, but Abdullah's only touch came in the second quarter. Jacobs, who handled 19 carries for 69 yards Sunday, should lead the charge out of the Raiders' backfield again Week 3 at Tennessee while Abdullah mixes in sparingly.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Just two carries Monday

Mattison had two carries for eight yards and three receptions for six yards in Monday's loss at Philadelphia.

Mattison played on 19 of the offense's 61 snaps and wasn't involved much, which isn't surprising given the Vikings were facing a large deficit most of the game. It looks like Mattison will have the same role as prior years with a large workload if Dalvin Cook gets hurt, but a modest one if the latter is healthy.

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Effective in limited role

Hill had three carries for 16 yards Sunday against the Dolphins.

Hill's 16 rushing yards paced the Ravens' running backs, which is a good snapshot of how this position group has performed through two weeks. Baltimore's running backs have combined for 29 carries for 74 yards, with Hill accounting for five carries and 20 yards through two games. Hill has been the most effective on a per-carry basis, but five carries in two games is hardly an indicative sample. It appears Baltimore's run game will continue to struggle as long as J.K. Dobbins (knee) is sidelined.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Panthers' D'Onta Foreman: Gets two carries

Foreman rushed twice for nine yards in Sunday's 19-16 loss to the Giants.

Foreman carried on two of his three offensive snaps, playing a tiny role behind star tailback Christian McCaffrey. With teammate Chuba Hubbard fumbling the opening kickoff, however, Foreman's place as McCaffrey's top backup should remain intact heading into Week 3 versus the Saints.
