  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Modest output in win

Harris took 19 carries for 65 yards while failing to bring in his lone target in Sunday's 23-18 win over the Raiders.

Harris' 19 rushing attempts Sunday surpassed the total from his first two games combined. This was due in large part to the Steelers' more balanced offensive gameplan that featured 28 passes and 31 rushing attempts. Backup Jaylen Warren remained involved with 43 combined yards on 11 touches, but Harris ate up most of the early down work amid rumors of possibly losing touches following a slow start. Pittsburgh's starter struggled to find running room with the increased workload, but no player on either team averaged more than 3.7 yards per carry in what turned out to be a physical battle. Harris and his fantasy managers will be looking for carries closer to the end zone as he seeks his first touchdown of the season against the Texans next Sunday.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Sluggish start continues

Jacobs rushed 17 times for 62 yards and caught three of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-18 loss to Pittsburgh.

Jacobs' early struggles continue with his third inefficient, scoreless outing in three weeks to begin the 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old still maintained his every-down role, commanding 100 percent of Las Vegas' running back carries Sunday. Jacobs got off to a similarly sluggish start in 2022, averaging just 83.7 total yards with no scores in three games before going off for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4. That's not to say he will suddenly turn things around against the Chargers next Sunday, rather a reminder for fantasy managers to remain patient early in the season. That said, if there was ever an ideal opponent to get right against, it would likely be this iteration of the Chargers' defense that has allowed 450.7 yards per game this year.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Cardinals' James Conner: Finds end zone in Week 3 win

Conner carried the ball 14 times for 98 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Cowboys.

The former Steeler led a Cardinals rushing attack that piled up 222 yards and two scores, including Conner's own five-yard TD dash in the first quarter that kick-started the upset victory. The veteran back has produced 204 rushing yards and two touchdowns over the last two games, but that TD streak could come to an abrupt end in Week 4 against a tough 49ers defense.

  • Kenyan Drake RB | GB

Ravens' Kenyan Drake: Sees one carry

Drake rushed the ball once for zero yards in Sunday's 22-19 overtime loss to the Colts. He added two receptions for 31 yards.

Drake was elevated from the practice squad after signing with the team Wednesday. That likely explains his lack of involvement in the offense, even after Gus Edwards (concussion) was forced from the game in the fourth quarter. It's possible that Drake is back in the mix in Week 4 against the Browns, pending the availability of Edwards and Justice Hill (toe).

  • Chiefs' Jerick McKinnon: Scores two TDs on five touches

McKinnon rushed twice for nine yards and caught all three of his targets for 19 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Bears.

Head coach Andy Reid continued his red-zone excellence with a couple of play designs that allowed McKinnon to scamper across the goal line unscathed. The veteran back finished a distant third in backfield touches behind Isiah Pacheco (17) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (16), so he needs to provide touchdowns to have fantasy relevance. Of course, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes under center, so it wouldn't be surprising to see another multi-score showing from McKinnon this season. That said, he will struggle to provide consistency on just a handful of touches per game.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Ravens' Melvin Gordon: First action of 2023

Gordon rushed the ball 10 times for 32 yards in Sunday's 22-19 overtime loss to the Colts. He added two receptions for 23 yards.

Gordon was elevated from the practice squad for the second consecutive game and saw his first carries of the season. The majority of his work came after Gus Edwards (concussion) was forced from the game, and Gordon wasn't particularly impressive with his opportunity. It's possible that he factors into the backfield mix again in Week 4 against the Browns, but that will likely depend on the health of Edwards as well as Justice Hill (toe).

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

Jets' Michael Carter: One touch in Week 3 loss

Carter didn't have a rushing attempt and caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Patriots.

Carter continues to work as the clear No. 3 running back behind Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook, who had 18 rushing yards apiece on 12 and eight carries, respectively. Between Carter's lack of playing time and the Jets' collective struggles on offense, Carter won't be a recommended fantasy option in Week 4 against Kansas City.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Scores with increased workload

Edwards-Helaire had 15 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown while adding a reception for two yards in Sunday's 41-10 win over Chicago.

Edwards-Helaire saw his workload increase drastically after receiving just seven combined carries over his previous two contests. The increase in playing time wasn't a result of the blowout, with his trip to the end zone coming early in the second quarter while Kansas City was still building its lead. Isiah Pacheco (hamstring) suited up after being labeled a game-time decision, so perhaps the uncertainty regarding his availability during the practice week led the coaching staff to scheme more plays for CEH against Chicago. Even if Edwards-Helaire maintains his newfound role against the Jets next Sunday, this week's volume of touches is unlikely to repeat in more competitive matchups.

  • Rico Dowdle RB | PIT

Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Scores first career TD

Dowdle carried the ball four times for 21 yards and caught all three of his targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-16 loss to the Cardinals.

Starting running back Tony Pollard ran for 122 yards on the day, but it was Dowdle who found the end zone, catching a 15-yard pass from Dak Prescott in the second quarter for Dallas' only TD. The touchdown was the first of Dowdle's NFL career in his 23rd game. As long as Pollard remains healthy, Dowdle's fantasy ceiling will be limited, but he's seen between six and eight touches in every game so far in 2023.

  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Big yardage in Week 3 loss

Pollard carried the ball 23 times for 122 yards in Sunday's 28-16 loss to the Cardinals. He also caught all three of his targets for minus-1 yard.

The running back had his most productive game of the season on the ground, but it was backup Rico Dowdle who scored the Cowboys' only TD of the day. Pollard's numbers were even more impressive considering he was working behind an offensive line missing three starters, including Zack Martin (ankle). Pollard faces a tough test in Week 4 against a Patriots defense that just held Breece Hall and the Jets to 38 total rushing yards.
