  • Evan Hull RB | HOU

Colts' Evan Hull: Expected to return this season

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Friday that he expects Hull (knee) to play again this season, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

The rookie fifth-round pick suffered a knee injury in his NFL debut last week against the Jaguars, finishing the game with one carry for one yard and one catch for six yards across eight offensive snaps. After being placed on injured reserve earlier this week, Hull will be required to miss at least the next four contests.

  • Chris Evans RB | CIN

Bengals' Chris Evans: Week 2 status uncertain

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that Evans (hamstring) was a limited participant at practice Friday, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Taylor added that the team will evaluate Evans -- who didn't practice Thursday -- on Saturday to see where the running back is in terms of his availability for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Evans thus appears likely to be officially listed as questionable when the Bengals release their final Week 2 injury report later Friday.

  • Chris Evans RB | CIN

Bengals' Chris Evans: Back at practice

Evans (hamstring) is present for Friday's practice, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Evans didn't practice Thursday due to a hamstring issue, so it will be encouraging if he's even officially listed as a limited participant. He logged three touches Week 1 while splitting depth work behind Joe Mixon with Trayveon Williams.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Limited touches in Week 2 loss

Mattison rushed eight times for 28 yards and brought in three of six targets for 11 yards in the Vikings' 34-28 loss to the Eagles on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble.

Mattison had what had to be considered a second straight disappointing performance to open the season, finding running room at a premium for the most part and then also seeing his overall opportunities limited by game script. The fifth-year pro was also fortunate his first-quarter fumble didn't lead to any points, as the Eagles' Justin Evans recovered at the Vikings' 39-yard line. Mattison has garnered less than 35 rushing yards in each of his first two games as Minnesota's unquestioned lead back, leaving him with little momentum heading into what could be a solid Week 3 home matchup against the Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 24.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Eagles' D'Andre Swift: Explodes for career-best effort

Swift rushed 28 times for 175 yards and a touchdown and brought in all three targets for six yards in the Eagles' 34-28 win over the Vikings on Thursday night.

Playing the first game of his professional career in his hometown of Philadelphia, Swift took full advantage of the opportunity by authoring a career-best rushing performance. The offseason arrival, who'd logged just 19 snaps in his Eagles debut in Week 1 against the Patriots, exceeded 20 carries for only the second time in his career and established a new personal best in rushing yards. Swift's stellar effort came in part due to Kenneth Gainwell's absence due to a rib injury and Boston Scott's (concussion) early exit, but after a night of noteworthy plays that included a 43-yard run and a two-yard touchdown rush with 4:13 remaining that essentially sealed the game, it will be difficult to deny Swift leadership of the ground game in a tough Week 3 road matchup against the Buccaneers on Monday night, Sept. 25.

  • Boston Scott RB | PIT

Eagles' Boston Scott: In concussion protocol

Scott exited Thursday's game against the Vikings with a head injury and is in concussion protocol.

Scott exited the game in the third quarter, though it's unclear exactly how the injury occurred. With Kenneth Gainwell (ribs) sidelined, Scott worked as the change-of-pace back behind D'Andre Swift and had tallied five carries for 40 yards before being sidelined. Assuming Scott can't return, Swift should see a lot of the work out of the backfield with Rashaad Penny potentially mixing in.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Misses another practice

Ekeler (ankle) was officially listed as a non-participant in practice Thursday.

Ekeler also missed practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury and a personal issue, but Thursday's practice report lists only the ankle issue alongside his name. What Ekeler is able to do during Friday's practice -- if anything -- thus will be telling with regard to his chances of playing Sunday against the Titans. If Ekeler is limited or out this weekend, Joshua Kelley would be in line to see an expanded profile in the Chargers backfield.

  • Greg Bell RB | PIT

Greg Bell: Joins Steelers' practice squad

Pittsburgh signed Bell to its practice squad Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

Just a couple days after being cut from the Steelers' practice squad, Bell has found his way back into the fold. With Anthony McFarland dealing with a knee injury, it would not be shocking to see Bell elevated to the active roster for Week 2.

  • Breece Hall RB | NYJ

Jets' Breece Hall: Remains limited in practice

Hall (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Coming off a 10-carry, 127-yard rushing performance in the Jets' 22-16 overtime win over Buffalo on Monday, Hall has now been limited in both of the team's first practice sessions of Week 2. The Jets haven't suggested that Hall's limitations are the result of any setback with his surgically repaired knee, so his reps are presumably being capped for maintenance purposes more than anything. Hall should be ready to go by the time Sunday's game in Dallas arrives, and he could be in store for a slight uptick in playing time after logging just 17 snaps against Buffalo.

  • Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Ready to play Week 2

Edwards-Helaire (illness) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Edwards-Helaire sat out Wednesday's session entirely while he was under the weather, but after taking every rep in practice a day later, he's good to go for Sunday's game at Jacksonville. In the Chiefs' season-opening loss to the Lions, Edwards-Helaire played 14 snaps en route to carrying six times for 22 yards and adding a seven-yard reception while Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon logged 31 and 20 snaps, respectively. Edwards-Helaire will likely be ticketed for a change-of-pace role once again Week 2.
