  • Mike White QB | CAR

Jets' Mike White: Throws 20 balls after Wilson injury

White completed 10 of 20 passes for 98 yards and rushed once for minus-3 yards in Friday's 24-21 preseason win over the Eagles

White entered the game after starter Zach Wilson departed due to a knee injury, which is expected to keep Wilson sidelined for 2-to-4 weeks. Chris Streveler threw two touchdowns after replacing White but remains well behind White in New York's quarterback pecking order. Joe Flacco -- who didn't play Friday -- is expected to get the first crack at regular season playing time if Wilson isn't ready to return by Week 1, but White likely would be kept around as the backup in such a scenario. If Wilson is able to dress for the Sept. 11 season opener, Jets brass would have to decide between keeping three quarterbacks, trading White or attempting to put him on the practice squad.

  • Zach Wilson QB | NO

Jets' Zach Wilson: Surgery scheduled for Tuesday

Wilson will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.

Wilson suffered a bone bruise and a meniscus tear during Friday's preseason opener. Initial reports suggested the second-year quarterback would miss 2-to-4 weeks, but Jets head coach Robert Saleh won't discuss a timetable until the procedure is finished. "We're optimistic," Saleh said. "But he's not out of the woods until they get in there and make the decision." In the meantime, expect Joe Flacco to take all the starting reps at quarterback for the Jets.

  • Sam Ehlinger QB | DEN

Colts' Sam Ehlinger: Sharp in preseason opener

Ehlinger was 10-of-11 passing for 88 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in Saturday's loss at Buffalo.

Ehlinger got his playing time in the second half against the third-string defense but still looked sharp. With the Colts signing Nick Foles as Matt Ryan's backup, it's not clear if the team will have a third quarterback on the active roster or try to keep Ehlinger on the practice squad.

  • Josh Johnson QB | CIN

Broncos' Josh Johnson: Impressive in preseason opener

Johnson completed 16 of 23 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns while adding three yards on one carry in Saturday's 17-7 win over the Cowboys.

Johnson started the game for Denver ahead of teammate Brett Rypien, and he made a solid case to be the favorite to win the backup quarterback job behind Russell Wilson. The veteran signal caller moved the ball well in the contest, finding both Kendall Hinton and Seth Williams for touchdowns in the second quarter. Johnson finished with a passer rating of 120.2, nearly double that of Rypien's rating of 65.3. Assuming the 36-year-old stays healthy and continues to shine in the preseason, the No. 2 spot on the depth chart appears to be his to lose.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Goes through walkthrough Sunday

Burrow (appendix) went through the Bengals' walkthrough practice Sunday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

Burrow threw some passes during last Monday's practice, marking the first time reporters had seen him do any on-field activity since undergoing an appendectomy, and he appears to be taking the necessary steps to being cleared for Week 1 of the regular season. The talented quarterback had the surgery July 26, but the team has remained confident he'll be ready when the games start to count, even if he doesn't see any action during the preseason.

  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

    Bears' Trevor Siemian: Solid performance

Siemian completed seven of 13 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 19-14 win over the Chiefs on Saturday.

Siemian entered the game after Justin Fields and the starters finished their work for the day. The veteran backup threw scoring passes to Trestan Ebner and Dazz Newsome against the Chiefs' backup defenders. It's likely that Siemian will be the No. 2 quarterback for Chicago going into the regular season.

  • Jeff Driskel QB | WAS

Texans' Jeff Driskel: Leads 10 drives

Driskel completed 16 of 26 passes for 165 yards, two touchdowns with three interceptions in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over New Orleans. He added three carries for 17 yards.

Starter Davis Mills played two series -- both were quick three-and-outs -- and backup Kyle Allen (illness) wasn't available, which afforded Driskel three-plus quarters. It was a mixed bag for the third-stringer, who was the beneficiary of three Houston takeaways but also turned it over three times himself. Asked about Driskel's performance following the game, Houston head coach Lovie Smith reaffirmed the quarterback depth chart as Mills, Allen then Driskel.

  • Davis Mills QB | HOU

Texans' Davis Mills: Plays two series Saturday

Mills completed all three of his pass attempts for 14 total yards in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the Saints.

Mills failed to guide the Texans' first-team offense to a single first down throughout his only two series at the helm Saturday, but he also was without his No. 1 wide receiver in Brandin Cooks. Mills figures to see a bit more playing time in the team's second preseason contest against the Rams on Friday.

  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Throws for 93 yards in win

Rudolph completed nine of 15 pass attempts for 93 yards and a touchdown during the Steelers' 32-25 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday.

Rudolph was the second Steelers quarterback to enter Saturday's preseason opener, and he connected with rookie receiver George Pickens for a 26-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone late in the first quarter. Rudolph has had some reps with the first-team offense over the first few weeks of training camp, but Mitch Trubisky has looked like the frontrunner for the starting job under center. However, Rudolph certainly didn't hurt his case with his efficient performance against Seattle.

  • Kyle Trask QB | TB

Buccaneers' Kyle Trask: Extensive action in opener

Trask completed 25 of 33 passes for 258 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Buccaneers' 26-24 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Saturday night. He also lost a fumble.

Trask's night got off to an encouraging start when he led a 15-play, 86-yard march that culminated in a Ke'Shawn Vaughn one-yard touchdown on his first possession. The Florida product struggled with turnovers on the next two drives, however, throwing an interception at the Buccaneers' 22-yard line that led to a Dolphins touchdown on the next play and then getting separated from the ball on a sack three plays later and seeing that fumble returned for a score as well. However, Trask did partly make up for the gaffes with a 19-yard touchdown toss to Jerreth Sterns in the third quarter and finished with impressive numbers overall while logging some much-needed reps. With Tom Brady (personal) still slated to be away from the team for next Saturday's road exhibition matchup against the Titans, Trask is likely set for another hefty workload.
