Jets' Zach Wilson: Ramping up, but won't play Week 3

Jets head coach Robert Saleh confirmed Monday that Wilson (knee) won't be available to play Sunday against the Bengals, but the quarterback will slightly ramp up his activities in practice this week, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Joe Flacco will pick up a third consecutive start this weekend in Wilson's stead after the veteran helped lead the Jets to a thrilling 31-30 come-from-behind victory over the Browns in Week 2. Though Saleh wouldn't say definitively that Wilson will be ready to return to the lineup to start Week 4 against the Steelers, the coach noted that the second-year signal-caller is "progressing well" in his recovery from the arthroscopic right knee procedure he required Aug. 16.

Jets' Zach Wilson: Staying sidelined Week 3

Wilson (knee) is not in contention to play Week 3 versus the Bengals, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.

The Jets continue to take a cautious approach to Wilson's recovery, one that reportedly won't involve rushing him back on the field until he's back in full form. As such, Wilson's earliest possible return date is expected to be Sunday, Oct. 2 versus the Steelers. Joe Flacco is fresh off orchestrating a four-touchdown, 307-yard comeback win over the Browns, and he stands to remain New York's starter until Wilson is back to 100 percent.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: No lingering injury

Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Brissett (ankle) is not on the injury report, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Brissett suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Jets, but he played through the issue and appears fully on track for Thursday's game against the Steelers. Still, with a short turnaround Week 3, Brissett's status will be worth monitoring in practice. The Browns currently have Joshua Dobbs and Kellen Mond on the roster behind Brissett.

  • Dak Prescott QB | DAL

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Could be back as soon as Week 4

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Prescott (thumb) could be back as early as Week 4 against the Commanders or Week 5 against the Rams, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

Prescott won't play Week 3 against the Giants, but he could be back soon after that. According to Jones, Prescott's recovery has been going extremely well so far, as the quarterback experienced minimal swelling after having surgery on his thumb.

  • Jeff Driskel QB | WAS

Texans' Jeff Driskel: Plays three snaps

Driskel had one carry for 10 yards in Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Broncos.

For the second straight week, Driskel was on the active roster ahead of Kyle Allen. He played three snaps and had a 10-yard run on a 3rd-and-1 situation. It's unclear what would happen if starter Davis Mills got injured, however, and whether the Texans would have Driskel start a game over Allen. Driskel has been used mostly on third downs and hasn't attempted a pass yet.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Falcons' Marcus Mariota: Slowed by Rams

Mariota completed 17 of 26 passes for 196 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Rams. He added six rushes for 16 yards.

Mariota moved the Atlanta offense early on but saw drives stall prior to reaching the end zone. After the Rams took a 28-3 lead, he managed to lead a substantial comeback with touchdown tosses of four and 11 yards. The disappointing part of his performance came in the form of three turnovers -- he lost a fumble in addition to his interceptions -- and his lack of production on the ground. Nevertheless, Mariota has shown the ability to lead the Falcons' offense effectively as they head into a Week 3 matchup against Seattle.

  • Bears' Justin Fields: Passing ineptitude continues

Fields completed seven of 11 passes for 70 yards and an interception while adding eight rushing attempts for 20 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Packers.

After the Packers mustered a field goal on their opening drive, Fields answered back with a touchdown drive that he capped with his legs from three yards out. The Bears' momentum was short-lived, though, as Chicago's next three drives all went three-and-out, allowing the Packers to take a 24-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. After Chicago cut the Packers' lead to 24-10 in the fourth quarter, Fields was tackled inside the one-yard line on back-to-back rushing attempts to turn it over on downs. Fields' interception on the next drive sealed the win for Green Bay. The second-year quarterback has totaled just 191 passing yards this season heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Texans.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Efficient against Bears

Rodgers completed 19 of 25 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Bears. He added 10 yards on five rushing attempts and lost a fumble.

Rodgers was briefly credited with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones in the second quarter, but the play was later deemed a run. The veteran quarterback's first touchdown pass of the season finally came later in the second quarter on an eight-yard touch pass to Jones, and Rodgers added a five-yard touchdown to Allen Lazard to give Green Bay a 24-7 halftime lead. Green Bay went run-heavy on offense while nursing a big lead for the entire second half, so Rodgers finished the night with another modest stat line. Rodgers will bring a 2:1 TD:INT into a high-profile Week 3 showdown with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Three touchdowns against Atlanta

Stafford completed 27 of 36 pass attempts for 272 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-27 win over Atlanta.

Stafford led the Rams on touchdown drives for three of the team's first four possessions. He capped two of those three drives with touchdown passes of one and three yards. Despite the positive portions of his performance, Stafford also turned the ball over twice and was far less efficient from a scoring perspective in the second half. While the Rams walked away with a win Sunday, Stafford has thrown three touchdowns as compared to five interceptions across his first two games of the campaign.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Broncos' Russell Wilson: Underwhelming performance in win

Wilson completed 14 of 31 passes for 219 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding two rushes for three yards in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Texans.

Coming off a loss to his former team in Week 1, many expected Wilson and the Broncos to have a huge resurgence against the Texans on Sunday. Unfortunately, that wasn't in the cards, as the offense is still trying to find its footing under the tutelage of head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Wilson focused on Courtland Sutton throughout the contest, targeting the wideout a team-high 11 times. Jerry Jeudy exited the game with a rib injury, complicating matters for the veteran signal-caller with KJ Hamler (knee/hip) already sidelined. Wilson's lone touchdown came early in the fourth quarter to give Denver the lead. The 33-year-old's struggles through the first two weeks are certainly concerning for fantasy purposes, but the Denver offense is too talented for matters not to improve substantially moving forward. Wilson will have the chance to get cooking against a familiar foe when the Broncos host the 49ers in Week 3.
