Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Receives assurances he won't be dealt
Saquon Barkley said after Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Commanders that he has received assurances from the Philadelphia Eagles front office that he will remain with the team beyond the Nov. 10 trade deadline, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports. "The whole time my mindset was, we have a little issue going on right now and I feel like I'm the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it," Barkley said. "And I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it."After dropping their sixth straight game Sunday, the Eagles now sit at 2-6 on the season and could be motivated to explore moving veteran players for draft capital ahead of the deadline. Barkley -- who is under contract through 2028 -- apparently won't be among the pieces the Eagles consider moving, as the team is counting on re-emerging as a playoff contender next season rather than embracing a long-term rebuilding effort. Though he'll be suiting up for the Eagles in their Week 9 matchup with the division-leading Giants, Barkley could continue to have his playing time managed while he gets ramped back up from hamstring and back injuries. He played just 22 of the Eagles' 68 offensive snaps in the loss to Washington, finishing with 13 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown and a 24-yard reception on his lone target.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Ineffective outside of short TD
Saquon Barkley rushed 13 times for 30 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for 24 yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Commanders.Barkley got to the edge to score a three-yard rushing touchdown out of the wildcat formation and give the Philadelphia Eagles a 10-0 first-quarter lead, but it was all Washington after that. He came into the game averaging 5.7 yards per carry but mustered only 2.3 YPC in this one while playing at less than full health. Barkley didn't sit down when on the sideline in an effort to stay loose and mitigate the effects of the back injury he sustained in Week 7 against Dallas while compensating for a hamstring injury that kept him out of the previous two games. The banged-up Barkley, who didn't notch a touch in the fourth quarter, will likely try to gut it out again in Week 9 against the NFC East-leading Giants.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Not in line to be traded
The Philadelphia Eagles aren't expected to move Saquon Barkley ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.Philadelphia's roster has been ravaged by injuries this season, and Barkley himself hasn't avoided health concerns, with two contests where he's played above 70 percent of snaps, three appearances in which he made early exits and two missed games to date. He thus has been capped to just 49 touches for 261 yards from scrimmage and one rushing touchdown, but general manager Howie Roseman won't consider trading Barkley ahead of the NFL's trade deadline. As for Barkley's Week 8 prospects, he doesn't have a designation for Sunday night's game at Washington and has only Jaydon Blue and Elijah Mitchell available behind him, so a workhorse role could be in the cards.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: In clear for Sunday
Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Washington. After missing the first two practices of Week 8 prep, Barkley was able to practice in a limited capacity Friday as he deals with a lingering hamstring injury and a new back issue that he sustained Monday against the Cowboys. Earlier Friday, he told Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com, "I would hope so," when asked if he's playing Sunday. With no designation to speak of on the final practice report, Barkley is in the clear ahead of the weekend, and he likely will retain a workhorse role due to the otherwise banged-up nature of the Philadelphia Eagles backfield.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: No practice Thursday
Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) didn't practice Thursday.Barkley has yet to practice this week due to dueling hamstring and back issues, the latter of which knocked him out of Monday's loss to the Cowboys. He relayed to Tim McManus of ESPN.com afterward that he isn't concerned about the most recent injury, but he now has just one more chance to get back on the practice field ahead of Sunday's game at Washington. With all of Tank Bigsby (abdomen), Will Shipley (foot) and Dameon Pierce (undisclosed) on IR, Jaydon Blue currently is the only healthy RB on the Philadelphia Eagles' active roster, though the team also used practice squad member Elijah Mitchell in Monday's loss to the Cowboys.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Not spotted at practice
Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) wasn't spotted warming up at Thursday's practice, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports. After sitting out Wednesday's walkthrough as a non-participant, Barkley now appears absent again at the start of Thursday's session. His official participation level will be confirmed by Philadelphia's injury report later Thursday, but Barkley seems to be trending in the wrong direction after sustaining what he described as a compensatory back injury during Monday's 38-21 loss to the Cowboys, which marked his return from a two-game absence. Jaydon Blue is the top healthy alternative behind Barkley heading into Sunday night's game against the Commanders.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Doesn't practice Wednesday
Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walkthrough. The Philadelphia Eagles are listing Barkley's previous hamstring injury and the back issue that he picked up during Monday's loss to the Cowboys as the reasons for Wednesday's absence. He'll have two more chances to mix into drills this week, but even if he isn't able to, he mentioned of the aforementioned contest that his "hamstring came out great" and that he isn't worried about the new health concern, per Tim McManus of ESPN. Ultimately, Friday's injury report will reveal Barkley's odds to suit up Sunday at Washington.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Plans to play through back issue
Saquon Barkley said after Monday's 38-21 loss to the Cowboys that his "hamstring came out great," and noted that the back issue that kept him out for the entire fourth quarter isn't anything that he expects to prevent him from playing Sunday against the Commanders, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports. While suiting up for the first time since Week 4 after missing the Philadelphia Eagles' previous two games due to a hamstring strain, Barkley took the field for just 10 snaps on the night but was impactful in his limited playing time. He touched the ball on nine of those snaps, carrying seven times for 62 yards and a touchdown to go with two receptions for nine yards on two targets. Heading into the game, the Eagles had deliberately planned to manage Barkley's workload to some extent, but he ended up seeing fewer snaps than anticipated after his back locked up on him following a 29-yard run in the first quarter. He didn't end up taking any snaps after the third quarter, with the Eagles leaning exclusively on Dameon Pierce (undisclosed) and Elijah Mitchell out of the backfield over the final 15 minutes. Fortunately for Barkley, the back issue doesn't seem to be a major concern, but his activity in practice this week will warrant monitoring as the Eagles assess his availability for Sunday's contest.
