Dart didn't suit up for Saturday's 26-3 preseason win over the Dolphins. Backup Jameis Winston got the start as Dart and some other key starters rested for the second preseason game. Dart played two series in the preseason opener, capping that appearance with a touchdown pass. It remains to be seen whether coach John Harbaugh gives the 2025 first-round pick any action in Friday's preseason finale against the Jets before the Giants kick off regular-season play with a Week 1 home game against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Dart went to the medical tent during the first quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Dart took a big hit from Vikings safety Jay Ward in the first quarter, and he was evaluated by team doctors shortly thereafter.

Dart and most of the Giants starters are expected to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Vikings, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Dart and the other starters shouldn't see more than one or two series during Saturday's exhibition contest, but it will be the first time head coach John Harbaugh coaches from the sidelines for the Giants after an 18-season tenure with the Ravens. Dart is looking to build off a solid rookie campaign in which he completed 63.7 percent of passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions while turning 86 carries into 487 yards and nine scores across 14 regular-season games (12 starts).

Coach John Harbaugh said Sunday that Dart's dual-threat capabilities will allow the Giants to deploy a more versatile offensive scheme, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. Harbaugh highlighted Dart's ability to "live in a lot of different worlds," taking looks from under center, shotgun and pistol, which "opens up" play action, RPOs and designed quarterback runs that can take advantage of the second-year quarterback's talents as a runner. Dart impressed as a rookie and now enters Year 2 with a coaching staff willing to lean into his athleticism with built-in designed movement and RPO concepts. His true upside will likely depend on what New York's pass-to-run ratio looks like, and how successfully he's able to stay on the field after taking too many hits as a rookie. Harbaugh said he "trust[s]" Dart's ability to better protect himself in Year 2.

Coach John Harbaugh said recently that Dart is "adjusting really well" to the new offense, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports. With Brian Daboll and his staff out the door, Dart has a whole new coaching staff to work with in his second season, from offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to senior offensive assistant Greg Roman to passing game coordinator and QBs coach Brian Callahan. Harbaugh and Roman come from a Ravens team that leaned heavily on the run game, while Nagy and Callahan previously worked with Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow in Kansas City and Cincinnati respectively. It's still unclear what this offense is going to look like from a pass-to-run ratio standpoint, but Dart will need to do a better job of protecting himself and staying on the field after he missed two games and parts of a couple others to injuries last season.
