The Eagles are expected to keep Johnson (personal) on the 53-man roster for the remainder of the season, even though he announced his retirement Tuesday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. Placing Johnson on the reserve/retired list would carry burdensome salary-cap implications for the Eagles, who appear content to essentially move forward with a 52-man roster before processing his move to the list after June 1 to spread out his cap hit over two years and maintain more financial flexibility. The Eagles are expected to list Johnson as inactive for most of their remaining games, but because of the volume of injured players on the roster in Week 5, he'll technically be active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London despite not being with the team, per Berman.

Johnson announced Tuesday via social media that he has retired from professional football. Johnson's decision to step away from the game comes after he was a surprise inactive ahead of this past Sunday's loss to the Rams while he tended to a personal matter. In his statement released Tuesday, the 36-year-old Johnson cited a desire to focus on his mental health and spend more time with his family as his reason for bringing an end to his career. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Johnson was widely regarded as the top right tackle of his generation. He spent all 14 of his NFL seasons with the Eagles, taking home two Super Bowl titles while earning All-Pro honors five times.

Johnson was inactive for Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Rams due to a personal issue, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. Johnson was declared inactive ahead of Sunday's meeting with Los Angeles. While head coach Nick Sirianni indicated the veteran is dealing with a personal matter, he didn't elaborate. It appears there's a chance Johnson's absence will extend beyond Week 4. If that's the case, Markel Bell, who started versus the Rams, could continue to fill the void in the lineup.

Johnson (personal) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams. Johnson was a very late addition to the injury report, as he received a tag of questionable less than two hours before kickoff due to a personal matter. The veteran tackle has now been ruled out for Sunday, which is a huge blow for Philadelphia's offense. According to Zach Berman of The Athletic, Markel Bell is slated to step into the starting role vacated by Johnson.

The Eagles list Johnson as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams due to a personal matter. Johnson hadn't been on the Week 4 injury report before the Eagles gave him a questionable tag just 30 minutes before the team was scheduled to announce its inactive list for Sunday's contest. If the star right tackle ends up sitting out against the Rams, rookie Markel Bell would likely make his first career start in Johnson's stead.
