• Wizards' Trae Young: Hands out 11 assists

  2D ago • By RotoWire

Young finished with 11 points (1-5 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, 11 assists and a steal across 28 minutes in Monday's 131-122 preseason loss to the Nets. On one hand, Young struggled to find his shooting rhythm, making just one field goal and relying heavily on free throws for his scoring. However, the veteran point guard dazzled as a playmaker with 11 assists, even if the eight turnovers were concerning. Still, the fact that Young posted a double-double despite his offensive inefficiency is a great sign of him being ready for the start of the 2026-27 regular season. Young's passing volume remains an important fantasy asset, but his ball security and shooting efficiency will be worth monitoring. If he stays healthy, he should have a sizable role as the team's primary floor general in a dynamic lineup alongside AJ Dybantsa, Alex Sarr and Anthony Davis.

• Wizards' Trae Young: Efficient performance Thursday

Young finished with 15 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four assists and two steals across 17 minutes in Thursday's 111-109 preseason win over the Knicks. Young made the most of his abbreviated playing time and looked good orchestrating the offense alongside several projected starters, such as Kyshawn George, AJ Dybantsa and Anthony Davis. The veteran guard's combination of perimeter scoring and elite playmaking should remain central to Washington's offensive approach once the regular season begins, so fantasy managers shouldn't be overly concerned about his limited playing time in the preseason.

Young (quadriceps) has been cleared for training camp and was spotted participating in on-court work during Wednesday's practice, according to Wizards reporter Greg Finberg. Young's 2025-26 campaign ended with him sidelined by a right quadriceps contusion and lower-back irritation after appearing in just five games for Washington following his midseason arrival. His participation during the second day of camp indicates he's moved past those issues and enters the preseason healthy.
