Robinson (undisclosed) is starting in Saturday's preseason game against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports. Robinson missed the previous preseason contest due to an undisclosed injury, but the big man will get the nod and start Saturday against a depleted 76ers team. Robinson is expected to be the defensive anchor in the Celtics' lineup when the regular season starts, but given his injury history, his workload should be monitored in the preseason.

Robinson (undisclosed) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Cavaliers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports. Robinson will join several other rotation players on the sidelines for Boston's preseason opener. The big man's next chance to play in the preseason will come Saturday against the 76ers.

Robinson expressed confidence Monday that he's capable of handling a more consistent workload this season after focusing on his conditioning throughout the summer, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports. "Definitely. I feel very confident in myself," Robinson said when asked whether he could play more minutes consistently. "I've been working on my body this whole summer. Figuring things out." Robinson averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 19.6 minutes across 60 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Heading into training camp, he's expected to battle Neemias Queta for the starting center role.

Robinson agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million deal to sign with the Celtics on Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. The Knicks were priced out of a reunion due to their tax concerns, so the Celtics will swoop in and sign the defensive-minded center. Robinson does have durability concerns related to his ankles, but he will likely be the favorite to start on Opening Night ahead of Neemias Queta. This move could be great news for Robinson's fantasy appeal moving forward.

It could be a challenge for the Knicks to re-sign Robinson this summer, Ian Begley of SNY reports. Knicks owner James Dolan vowed earlier this offseason to keep the team under the second apron, which will likely entail New York having to choose between re-signing either Robinson or Landry Shamet to remain under this salary cap. If Robinson winds up being the odd man out, Ariel Hukporti or Mohamed Diawara could be thrust into the primary backup center role behind Karl-Anthony Towns next season, unless New York were to swing a trade or make another addition to reinforce the center position.
