Towns recorded 22 points (8-15 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 14 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block over 33 minutes in Sunday's 111-102 loss to the Magic. Towns has looked great to open the 2026-27 season, scoring efficiently while racking up three straight double-doubles, but that hasn't translated to wins for the defending champs. The Knicks are 0-3 to begin the year, and they'll have their work cut out for them Tuesday against Detroit.

Towns registered 22 points (9-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Friday's 107-103 loss to Boston. That's now back-to-back double-doubles to begin the campaign for the star big man, who led the Knicks in scoring. After getting into foul trouble during Tuesday's Opening Night loss to the 76ers, it was encouraging to see Towns be able to stay on the floor more consistently Friday.

Towns ended with 19 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 4-7 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks over 24 minutes in Tuesday's 106-100 loss to Philadelphia. Towns found himself in early foul trouble on Opening Night. As a result, he would finish the first half with just five points in six minutes of work. It was a different story in the second half, with the 30-year-old veteran amassing 14 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter. It wasn't a perfect game from Towns, who could be entering his final year as a Knick. Still, he began the year with a double-double, and while he also had issues taking care of the ball, it was a good start to the 2026-27 campaign.

Towns tallied 13 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 15 rebounds and nine assists across 29 minutes in Thursday's 122-120 preseason win over the Raptors. Towns returned to action Thursday after sitting out the second leg of a back-to-back set Tuesday. The star big man turned in an efficient shooting performance and was one of five Knicks players to score in double figures. He also led all players in rebounds and assists while finishing one dime short of a triple-double.

Head coach Mike Brown said Towns (rest) and the rest of New York's starters will see increased playing time in Thursday's preseason game against Toronto, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Towns was held out of Tuesday's loss to the Raptors due to rest purposes, though he'll be back in action for New York's preseason finale. The big man's return figures to result in James Wiseman heading back to the bench.
