  • George Valera DH | CLE

Guardians' George Valera: Swats second homer

Valera went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Tigers.

The 24-year-old rookie took Jack Flaherty deep in the third inning, giving Cleveland a 2-1 lead the team wouldn't relinquish. Valera has started five of six games against right-handed pitching since being added to the 28-man roster, four at DH and one in right field, and he's gone 8-for-33 (.242) with two doubles, two homers, five runs and five RBI.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | ATL

    Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Homers Wednesday

Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a pair of walks in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Nationals.

Ozuna cut Atlanta's deficit to 4-2 in the eighth inning with a 404-foot blast off Jackson Rutledge. It was Ozuna's 21st homer of the year and his first in 33 games. It's been a disappointing year overall for the 34-year-old Ozuna, though he's swung the bat better of late, going 13-for-42 (.310) with an .884 OPS in his last 12 contests.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Launches 34th long ball

Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday in a 4-3 win over St. Louis.

Devers tied the score at 2-2 in the third inning with a 376-foot poke over the right-field wall. It was his third homer over his past five games and increased his total on the season to 34 long balls. Devers has hit more homers in a regular season only once in his career -- in 2021, when he smacked 38 home runs while with Boston.

  • Jorge Polanco DH | SEA

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Continues to roll in easy win

Polanco went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-2 win over Colorado.

Polanco socked his third homer of the month and his 25th of the season. The veteran infielder slugged .862 during an unbelievable April before skidding in May and June, but he's been heating back up at the right time for the playoff-bound Mariners. Polanco has an .891 OPS with 14 bombs, 21 doubles and 37 RBI over 69 games since the start of July, raising his OPS for the year from .736 as of the end of June to .816 following Wednesday.

  • Mike Trout DH | LAA

    Angels' Mike Trout: Resting Wednesday

Trout is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Royals on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Trout will get a rest day Wednesday while Yoan Moncada serves as the designated hitter and bats third. Trout has gone 14-for-67 (.209) with two home runs, five RBI and 11 runs scored since Sept. 1, and his homer against the Rockies on Saturday was the 400th of his major-league career.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Back in lineup as DH, hitting fifth

Santander (shoulder) is in the starting lineup and batting fifth as the designated hitter for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Santander was officially activated from the injured list Tuesday, but this marks his first start since May 29 due to a left shoulder injury. It's been a 2025 season to forget for Santander to this point, as he slashed just .179/.273/.304 with six home runs, 18 RBI, 14 runs scored and a 24:55 BB:K across 209 plate appearances prior to his lengthy stay on the injured list. With the Blue Jays fighting for the AL East crown this final week, Santander will look to provide a source of power in the middle of Toronto's lineup.

  • David Fry DH | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Out 6-8 weeks with facial fractures

The Guardians announced Wednesday that Fry will be sidelined six-to-eight weeks after sustaining multiple minimally displaced left-sided facial and nasal fractures in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

After being placed on the 10-day IL, Fry's season is likely over, even if the Guardians make the playoffs and advance all the way to the World Series. Fry was injured while attempting to bunt a 99-mph fastball from Tarik Skubal in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday. Instead, he fouled it off, and the ball hit Fry squarely in the face. Fry doesn't need surgery and is said to be resting comfortably after he was discharged from the hospital. Fry had a down 2025 season that saw him slash just .171/.229/.363 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, 16 runs scored, one stolen base and a 9:58 BB:K across 157 trips to the plate. He should be recovered well ahead of spring training.

  • David Fry DH | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Has broken nose, facial fractures

Fry has been diagnosed with a broken nose and facial fractures after being hit in the face with a foul ball while attempting to bunt in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Tigers, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Fry attempted to bunt a 99-mph fastball from Tarik Skubal in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it skipped off his bat and hit Fry in the face. He is expected to miss some time, and the Guardians could make a roster move with Fry on Wednesday. Fry's regular season may be over. He's slashing .171/.229/.363 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, 16 runs scored, one stolen base and a 9:58 BB:K across 157 plate appearances this season.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

    Rangers' Joc Pederson: Leaves yard

Pederson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Pederson began his night with a solo home run off Zebby Matthews on Matthews' second pitch of the game. It was Pederson's first homer since Aug. 31 and just his second extra-base hit over that span. Pederson remained in the leadoff spot and could stay there the rest of the week when there's a right-hander on the mound. The Rangers are currently slated to face four more righties this week.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Clubs 54th homer

Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Marlins.

The veteran slugger got the Phillies on the board by taking Edward Cabrera deep in the first inning. It was Schwarber's fourth long ball in the last nine games and his 54th of the season, and with five games left on the regular-season schedule, he's four homers short of Ryan Howard's franchise record of 58 set in 2006.
