  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Busts out with four-hit effort

Turner went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 11-1 win over the Pirates.

The veteran third baseman hadn't had a multi-hit performance since April 24 and had managed only four hits in his prior 11 games combined; however, Turner led the charge on a night in which the Dodgers banged out eight doubles in total, tying the club record for the Los Angeles chapter of the franchise's history. Turner's .552 OPS is still well below expectations, but Tuesday's effort could be a sign he's ready to break out.

  • Nick Solak 1B | PIT

Rangers' Nick Solak: Doubles, swipes two bags

Solak went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases in a 6-4 win Tuesday over Kansas City.

Both of Solak's stolen bases directly led to runs, as he stole second before scoring on a two-out single in the fourth and, in the sixth, stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Entering the game he was in the midst of a massive slump, going 3-for-26 in the last 14 contests. It was his first double and third extra-base hit on the season. His .700 OPS is right in line with his .706 career mark.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Good to go Tuesday

Belt (neck) is starting at first base and batting second Tuesday against the Rockies, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.

Belt was listed in the lineup each of the past two days before ultimately being scratched with neck stiffness, and he's once again in the starting nine. Assuming the 34-year-old actually plays Tuesday, it will be only his second appearance since being activated off the COVID-19 injured list Saturday.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Progressing well

Jimenez said Tuesday that he's progressing faster than expected in his return from hamstring surgery, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Jimenez underwent the procedure in late April and was expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks. It's unclear if his optimism is shared by the White Sox organization, but it's still better to hear that he feels good than to hear the alternative.

  • Seth Beer DH | PIT

Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Out against lefty

Beer is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

The lefty-hitting Beer typically finds himself on the bench against southpaws, so his absence from the lineup comes as little surprise with lefty Jesus Luzardo on the bump for Miami. Beer may soon lose out on work against right-handers, too; in 68 plate appearances versus righties this season, Beer is slashing .175/.294/.246, good for a 61 wRC+ mark.

  • Byron Buxton DH | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Remains on bench

Buxton (hip) remains on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Astros, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Buxton was considered day-to-day after leaving Saturday's game against Oakland with what the Twins called a "low-level right hip strain," but he's still sidelined even after Monday's off day. He'll continue to avoid the injured list for now, though it's hard to feel confident in his health given his lengthy injury history. Gilberto Celestino will start in center field.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: On bench against lefty

Choi will sit Tuesday against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Choi hasn't started against a southpaw all season, a trend which will continue here against Reid Detmers. Yandy Diaz will start at first base.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: On base four times Monday

Harper went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Monday's 9-0 win over the Mariners.

While his teammates supplied the thunder, Harper focused on setting the table on a night when seven different Phillies had multi-hit performances. For his part, Harper has delivered multiple hits in three of the last four games, boosting his slash line on the season to .259/.315/.509 with six homers, four steals, 19 RBI and 23 runs through 29 contests.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Belts first career slam Monday

Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's 11-3 win over the Rays.

After launching a solo shot off Jalen Beeks to left-center field in the sixth inning, Ohtani crushed a Calvin Faucher offering to nearly the exact same spot in the seventh for a grand slam -- the first of his professional career, either in Japan or North America. Ohtani isn't hitting quite as well as he did last year, but he still sports a .252/.315/.445 slash line with six homers, four steals, 21 RBI and 23 runs through 30 games, and Monday's performance could be a sign he's about to catch fire at the plate.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Resting for Game 1 of twin bill

Cabrera is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Athletics.

Austin Meadows will handle designated-hitter duties in the front end of the doubleheader while Cabrera sits after starting each of the past six games. During that stretch, the 39-year-old went 5-for-23 with a double, one of just four extra-base hits he's recorded across 98 plate appearances on the season.
