  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

    Twins' Byron Buxton: Resumes swinging

Buxton (shoulder) is feeling much better and has been swinging the bat recently, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Buxton was placed on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation Thursday, but he appears to be progressing nicely in his recovery. While he's making progress, it's uncertain whether he'll be able to return after spending 10 days on the IL. Jake Cave should continue to see increased playing time while Buxton recovers.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Back in action Tuesday

Blackmon (quadriceps) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

He was scratched from Monday's lineup with left quadriceps tightness, and thankfully it will be just a one-game absence, although sometimes this type of injury pops back up. Blackmon is hitting .282 with zero home runs in 39 at-bats over his last 10 games, five of which came away from Coors Field.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Sitting against lefty

Dickerson is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Dodgers.

The lefty-hitting Dickerson will head to the pine with southpaw Julio Urias on the hill for L.A. Darin Ruf will start in left field and bat seventh.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Could play field in future seasons

Manager Joe Maddon envisions Ohtani being able to play the field in future seasons, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Ohtani has been taking flyballs in the outfield and grounders at first base, but he will be confined to designated hitter duties this season due to his elbow injury that is also preventing him from pitching. From a fantasy perspective, it would be great if Ohtani could be a full-time position player, but he may be deployed once again as a two-way player when he is fully healthy.

  • Astros' Michael Brantley: Out for Game 1

Brantley is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels.

Considering he just got back from a quadriceps injury, it was expected that he would sit for at least one of the two games Tuesday. He will be the DH for Game 2 and could return to the field this weekend against the A's, according to Jake Kaplan of The Athletic. Taylor Jones will start at designated hitter and bat sixth.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Royals' Jorge Soler: Nails seventh homer

Soler went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Monday's 9-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Soler cut the Cardinals' lead to 6-3 with his three-run shot off Alex Reyes in the sixth. It was the 28-year-old's seventh long ball of the season. He has 19 RBI while slashing .260/.345/.510 across 104 at-bats this season.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Cardinals' Brad Miller: Three hits, scores twice in win

Miller went 3-for-4 with three singles, a walk and two runs scored in Monday's 9-3 win over Kansas City.

Miller got the start at third base as Tommy Edman shifted to second and Kolten Wong got the night off. The utility man made an impact hitting in front of Paul Goldschmidt, racking up three knocks and a walk while coming around to score twice. Miller has his OPS up to a robust 1.133 on the campaign and he figures to continue to see his fair share of at-bats going forward.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Two hits in loss

Canha went 2-for-4 with a double and run-scoring single in Monday's loss to the Rangers.

Canha got Oakland out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning with his RBI single off Lance Lynn. He added a double later in the game, raising his batting average to .290. Canha has played himself into an everyday role while cementing himself into the middle of the Athletics' lineup. He should continue to see consistent at-bats while rotating between outfield and designated hitter duties.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Scratched from lineup

Blackmon was scratched from Monday's lineup against Arizona with left quadriceps tightness, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Blackmon was slated to start in right field and bat third, but he's since been scratched. He'll be considered day-to-day until another update is provided by the club. Sam Hilliard will get the nod in right field in Blackmon's place Monday evening.

  • Nick Solak 1B | PIT

    Rangers' Nick Solak: Batting leadoff

Solak batted leadoff and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Mariners.

Injuries have caused Rangers manager Chris Woodward to adjust the top of the batting order. Solak has filled in at leadoff the last four games as Shin-Soo Choo (calf) and Elvis Andrus (back, IL) are unavailable. He's gone 3-for-17 with a home run and two runs scored atop the order.
