Casali was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

One of three call-ups Thursday, Casali will rejoin the Rays just under a month after being optioned on Aug. 4. Casali has appeared in 71 games for the Rays on the season, but he's hitting just .168 in 185 at-bats.

Thole signed a major league contract with the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Thole was DFA'd less than a week ago after the team acquired Dioner Navarro, but he'll now rejoin the Jays after clearing waivers Tuesday. He is knuckleballer R.A. Dickey's preferred catcher and will likely only be deployed down the stretch when Dickey is on the mound.

Gomes (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Akron on Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes is slated to DH twice over the weekend as he continues to work back from a separated AC joint in his shoulder. Barring a setback, the expectation is that he'll be able to return to the big league club when eligible on Sept. 16.

Gomes was transferred to the 60-day DL on Wednesday.

The move was made so that there would be room on the roster for Perci Garner, who was called up from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. Gomes will be eligible to return from the disabled list September 16. It's expected that he'll begin a rehab assignment in the near future, making a mid-September return highly likely.

Maile went 2-for-4 with a two-run, game-tying home run in a 4-3 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Maile's game-tying homer knotted the game at 3-3 in the seventh and chased Boston start Drew Pomeranz. It was the young catcher's second career home run in 113 at-bats, and raised his batting average to .256 on the season. Maile slugged just .367 over his minor league career, so don't expect much more than the limited power he's shown moving forward.

Leon is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Rays, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

Leon had a solid showing Monday night as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI against Tampa Bay. However, he's started four consecutive games, so he'll sit out Tuesday as Bryan Holaday starts behind the dish and bats eighth.

Gomes (shoulder) could head out on a rehab assignment in the coming days, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Gomes would serve as the DH initially in his rehab with the minor league season winding down as he's still working to get back into throwing shape. He should be back with the Tribe by the early part of September but his ability to handle his duties behind the plate will be the key factor to his role upon a return.

McCann is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

McCann had started each of the last four games, and was 0-for-7 with four strikeouts over the last two contests, so he'll get what looks like just a regular day off Monday. Jarrod Saltalamacchia will fill in behind the plate and bat seventh.

Sanchez got the start at DH and went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

He didn't hit a homer for just the fourth time in his last 11 games, but Sanchez still banged out his 19th extra-base hit in August (11 home runs, eight doubles). His absurd run will come to an end eventually but expect the Yankees to continue getting his bat into the lineup as long as he keeps crushing the ball.

Thole was designated for assignment following Sunday's 9-6 win over the Twins, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.

The Blue Jays bolstered their catching corps by acquiring Dioner Navarro from the White Sox over the weekend, leaving no room for Thole as the club's third backstop. Thole had been a mainstay on the Blue Jays' roster over the last four years due to his comfort with catching knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, but he rarely made an impact with his bat. He was sitting on a .164/.254/.218 batting line across 128 plate appearances this season prior to being dropped from the 40-man roster. Assuming he goes unclaimed off waivers, Thole could still opt to remain with the organization as a depth catcher at Triple-A Buffalo.T
