Church (foot) will start in center field and bat ninth Saturday against Milwaukee. Foot soreness prevented Church from starting Friday's series opener, but he seems to be feeling well enough to return to action after a day of rest. The 26-year-old will aim to finish the season strong after batting .307 over 22 games since the beginning of September.

Church was out of Friday's lineup in Milwaukee due to lingering soreness in his foot, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Church fouled a ball off his foot during the Cardinals' series in Pittsburgh earlier this week. He was able to appear off the bench as a pinch hitter, so Church could be back in the lineup as soon as Saturday. Victor Scott started Friday in center field in Church's place, going 1-for-3 at the plate.

Church is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest in Milwaukee. It will be the first day off since Aug. 23 for Church, who is slashing .295/.340/.400 during that stretch. Victor Scott will grab a rare start in center field and will bat ninth for the Cardinals in Friday's series opener.

Church went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the White Sox. Church has yet to be held hitless in September, going 14-for-39 (.359) over 11 games this month. Just two of the knocks have gone for extra bases, both being doubles. The outfielder is putting together a strong finish to the year, which has seen him hit .251 with a .667 OPS, 10 home runs, 50 RBI, 49 runs scored, 13 doubles, two triples and 10 stolen bases over 129 contests in total.

Church is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. The Cardinals will keep the left-handed hitter on the bench for the second time in the series while the Phillies send another southpaw starter to the bump in Cristopher Sanchez. Jose Fermin will replace Church in center field and bat seventh.
