McCutchen (quadriceps) is batting leadoff as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Padres.

The 37-year-old was withheld from Sunday's starting nine after he tweaked his quad during Saturday's contest, but he'll make a quick return to the lineup Tuesday. McCutchen has a .240/.345/.360 slash line with one homer and an 8:14 BB:K in 14 games since the All-Star break.
