Atlanta released McCutchen on Monday.
The veteran slugger joined Atlanta on a minor-league deal in early July and will now hit the open market after batting .333 with three doubles and a home run in nine games at Triple-A Gwinnett. McCutchen started the season with the Rangers but was let go in May after posting a .192/.277/.260 slash line and career-worst 26.5 percent strikeout rate in 83 plate appearances.
