Cowboys' Tyrus Wheat: Staying in Dallas
Wheat is slated to sign a one-year deal with the Cowboys, Jane Slater of NFL.com reports.
Wheat is in a similar position to 2025, when he signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys as an exclusive-rights free agent. As an unrestricted free agent, the defensive end has decided to stay in Dallas once again. The 26-year-old likely will maintain his role as a depth piece for the defensive line as well as a consistent special-teams contributor.

Cowboys' Tyrus Wheat: Gets one-year deal with Dallas
Wheat signed a one-year, $1.03 million contract with the Cowboys on Wednesday, Patrik Walker of the team's official site reports.
Wheat didn't have the ability to negotiate with any other team as an exclusive-rights free agent, so he'll stick around in Dallas after the Cowboys extended him a one-year offer equal to the league minimum for defensive ends. Wheat served in a rotational role during the 2024, finishing with 14 tackles (six solo) over eight games.

Cowboys' Tyrus Wheat: Will be available Thursday
Wheat (concussion) does not carry an injury designation into Thursday's game versus the Seahawks, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Wheat will be one of the very few players this season to sustain a concussion during a game and still be available for the following contest. With Dallas' defensive line essentially at full strength, Wheat will likely be involved only sparingly, if at all, in Week 13.

Cowboys' Tyrus Wheat: Full go Tuesday
Wheat (concussion) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
The 23-year-old defensive end has been dealing with a concussion, and even though he was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, it's still unknown whether he has cleared protocol. Wheat has appeared in six games for the Cowboys thus far, tallying two total tackles and primarily playing on special teams.

Cowboys' Tyrus Wheat: Opens week with DNP
Wheat (concussion) did not practice Monday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Wheat headed to the locker room with an apparent injury during the win over Washington on Thanksgiving, and he's now listed as dealing with a concussion. The Cowboys held a regular practice Monday since they played last Thursday and will do so again this coming Thursday, and Wheat's absence to begin the week doesn't bode well for his chances of suiting up for their upcoming contest versus Seattle. If he's unable to play in that game, the biggest impact would be felt on special teams, where 106 of his 131 total snaps have taken place this season.
