Browns' Malachi Corley: Cleared to face Steelers
Corley (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Corley upgraded to full participation Friday following a pair of limited practices. The 2024 third-round draft pick of the Jets played 12 snaps on offense in his Browns debut against the Vikings this past Sunday in London, turning his only touch into an 11-yard carry.

Browns' Malachi Corley: Working through groin injury
Corley was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a groin injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Corley made his Browns debut during their Week 5 loss to the Vikings in London when he logged one carry for 11 yards while playing 12 snaps on offense. He may have picked up the groin injury during that contest, but he would avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Steelers with a full practice Thursday or Friday.

Browns' Malachi Corley: Makes season debut
Corley had one carry for 11 yards and was not targeted in Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Vikings in Week 5.
Corley was signed to the active roster last week and made his season debut. Of the two receivers plucked from the practice squad this week, Corley's 12 snaps were more than Gage Larvadain's one. Both were bumped up after the Browns placed Cedric Tillman (hamstring) and DeAndre Carter (knee) on injured reserve.

Browns' Malachi Corley: Added to Cleveland's active roster
The Browns signed Corley from the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday.
Corley and Gage Larvadain were both signed to the active roster to give the Browns much-needed depth at wide receiver after Cedric Tillman (hamstring) and DeAndre Carter (knee) were both placed on injured reserve. Corley joined the Browns' practice squad in late August after failing to make the Jets' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The 2024 third-rounder logged just three catches (on six targets) for 16 yards along with two carries for 26 yards across nine regular-season games during his rookie campaign as a member of the Jets.

Malachi Corley: Joins Cleveland's practice squad
The Browns are signing Corley to the practice squad Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Corley was waived by the Jets on Tuesday after playing just 83 snaps on offense across nine regular-season appearances last year as a rookie. The 2024 third-round pick will now work to maneuver toward a similar trajectory as Elijah Moore once did, being a player who was also let go by the Jets early in his career before turning things around with the Browns -- though he was traded to Cleveland, not claimed off waivers. Corley's skill set could make him a fine complement to top Cleveland wideouts Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman as long as he can continue to progress in his development.

The 2024 third-round pick lasted just one year with the team that drafted him, logging 83 snaps on offense and fumbling out of the end zone on one of his five touches. Corley should generate interest elsewhere in the NFL, if only as a practice-squad signing after clearing waivers.

Jets' Malachi Corley: Shaky case for roster spot
Corley didn't catch either of his two targets in Friday's 19-17 preseason loss to the Eagles. He also had 51 yards on two kickoff returns.
Corley didn't help his chances of making the team with Friday's goose egg on offense. The 2024 third-round draft pick excelled at gaining yards after the catch at Western Kentucky, but his skills didn't translate to NFL success as a rookie, as he had just three catches in nine appearances. The Jets have a new GM and coaching staff with no ties to Corley, so he's in jeopardy of getting cut when the Jets trim the roster down to 53 players ahead of their Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Steelers.

Jets' Malachi Corley: One catch in preseason opener
Corley caught one of two targets for eight yards and had a 31-yard kickoff return in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.
Corley didn't contribute much Saturday, and the 2024 third-round draft pick looks to be on the roster bubble heading into his second NFL season under a new coaching staff. Allen Lazard (shoulder) exited Saturday's game, and Xavier Gipson (shoulder) remains sidelined. Corley's chances of making the team would improve if those injuries to fellow wide receivers linger into the regular season, and the Jets would have another reason to retain him if Corley shows promise on special teams as a kick returner.

Corley missed most of OTAs and minicamp due to an undisclosed injury. Jets' Malachi Corley: Not assured roster spot?
Corley (undisclosed), who missed mandatory minicamp while continuing to manage an undisclosed injury sustained during OTAs, isn't a lock to make the Jets' regular-season roster, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
Corley played just 83 offensive snaps (and eight snaps on special teams) across his nine regular-season appearances as a rookie, despite New York investing third-round draft capital by selecting him 65th overall. His most memorable moment in Year 1 came in the form of a fumble at the goal line during Week 9 that turned what would have been his first career touchdown into a touchback. New offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand acknowledged that the time Corley has missed during early installs means he's "going to have to find a way to catch himself up." Now fighting an uphill battle, it will be crucial for Corley to get healthy for Day 1 of training camp July 23. The Jets have a relatively open competition at wide receiver behind No. 1 option Garrett Wilson, with Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Arian Smith, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Gipson representing Corley's competition for a spot on the 53-man roster.

Corley struggled to make an impact after being drafted 65th overall by the Jets in 2024, finishing with three catches for 16 yards on six targets and adding two carries for 26 yards while appearing in nine games. There's an opportunity for Corley to grab a larger role in 2025 since the Jets lack a clear pecking order at wide receiver behind Garrett Wilson, but Corley will first need to recover and retake the practice field in order to make his case for more playing to the team's new coaching staff.
