Jack Nelson: Let go with injury settlement
The Falcons waived Nelson (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Nelson was slated to miss the entire 2026 season after he reverted to the Falcons' injured reserve. However, the settlement allows the 2025 seventh-rounder to sign and play with a team this season once he's fully healthy. Nelson appeared in 10 regular-season games with the Falcons during his rookie year, though he mostly played on special teams and saw just four snaps on offense.

Falcons' Jack Nelson: Out for Sunday
Nelson (calf) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Nelson missed the entire week of practice because of a calf injury, so it's no surprise he'll be sidelined for Atlanta's regular-season opener. With Storm Norton (ankle), Tyrone Wheatley (undisclosed) and Kaleb McGary (leg) all on injured reserve, Michael Jerrell is currently the only healthy reserve tackle on the Falcons' active roster.

Falcons' Jack Nelson: Bound for Atlanta
The Falcons selected Nelson in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 218th overall.
Nelson started four seasons at Wisconsin, and while he focused on left tackle, he also has experience at right guard. He has the size (6-foot-7, 314 pounds) to make the cut as an offensive tackle in the NFL, and his versatility should make him a valuable depth lineman, even if it takes time before he vies for a starting role.
