Thomas secured his only target for eight yards in the Jaguars' 35-6 win over the Patriots on Sunday.
Thomas' minimal role in the Jaguars' air attack was glaring on a day when Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes. All of Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, Brenton Strange, Josh Cameron and LeQuint Allen outpaced Thomas with at least one aspect of their receiving lines, the latter has a modest 7-88-0 line on 12 targets over the first three games of the campaign. Given the complementary role he seems to have fallen into, Thomas' prospects are generally dim heading into a Week 4 road matchup against the Bengals next Sunday.

Jaguars' Brian Thomas: Quiet stat line in Week 2 loss
Thomas brought in three of eight targets for 40 yards in the Jaguars' 20-13 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
Thomas' inefficient afternoon saw him mirror his stat line from Week 1. The 2024 first-round pick's start to the new season has been somewhat worrisome considering he often underwhelmed in 2025 while playing in head coach Liam Coen's offense for the first time. Thomas should continue to see plenty of opportunity, but it remains to be seen how he'll fare against a second straight tough secondary in that of the Patriots during a Week 3 home matchup next Sunday.

Thomas (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Denver, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.
The Jaguars listed Thomas as a limited practice participant all week, after he played just eight snaps on offense after the first quarter of a Week 1 win over Cleveland. He did catch three passes for 40 yards in the opening quarter, and he likely would've played more if the Jaguars hadn't been up by three-plus scores for the entire second half. Still, there's some risk of re-injury, and continued risk of playing behind Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers in multi-TE formations.

Thomas now has back-to-back capped sessions under his belt due to a shoulder injury to kick off Week 2 prep, which isn't unexpected after coach Liam Coen told Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com on Monday that the wide receiver would be limited in practice this week. Thomas was briefly forced from Sunday's win over the Browns but was able to return and finished with three catches for 40 yards on three targets. Coen expects Thomas to play next Sunday against the Broncos despite the shoulder issue, but the matchup will be much tougher on paper. Behind Parker Washington in the pecking order for targets, Thomas is shaping up as a WR4 fantasy bet moving forward.

Thomas was left out of the fun when it came to Trevor Lawrence's four touchdown passes, but the third-year wideout did finish tied for second in receiving yards and targets on the Jaguars while also serving as the runner-up in receptions. Thomas had an inconsistent first season in head coach Liam Coen's offense a year ago, but his efficient showing Sunday qualifies as an encouraging start for 2026 despite the modest yardage total. Thomas will have a formidable challenge on his hands next Sunday, however, as the Jaguars travel to Denver for a showdown against the stingy Broncos defense.

Jaguars' Brian Thomas: Practices fully Tuesday
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said that Thomas (shoulder) was a "full go" at Tuesday's practice, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Thomas injured his shoulder in a joint practice with the Buccaneers one week earlier, but he avoided a major scare and was back on the field a few days later while sporting a no-contact jersey. The wideout was seemingly able to shed that jersey and take some contact during Tuesday's session, so he looks like he'll be in the clear for the Jaguars' Sept. 13 season opener versus the Browns.
