Packers' Jaylin Simpson: Signs with Green Bay
Simpson signed with the Packers on Monday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
The safety had a tryout with Green Bay on Wednesday. Simpson, who was previously dealing with a hamstring injury, was waived from injured reserve with a settlement by the Jets in early August before trying out for the Texans less than a week later. A 2024 fifth-round pick of the Colts, Simpson did not see action last season, though he may now get a chance to compete for a depth and special-teams role with the Packers.

Jaylin Simpson: Gets look from Houston
Simpson (hamstring) had a tryout with the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Simpson was with the Jets early in training camp, but he hurt his hamstring and was waived from injured reserve with a settlement Wednesday. It appears that he's now clear of the hamstring issue, given his ability to try out with Houston. Simpson has yet to play an NFL game after being drafted by the Colts in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Jaylin Simpson: Let go by Jets
The Jets waived Simpson (hamstring) from injured reserve with a settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Simpson was placed on New York's injured reserve Sunday but is headed to waivers after having reached a settlement with the team. The 2024 fifth-round pick has yet to make his regular-season debut and will now look to get healthy and catch on with another team.

Jets' Jaylin Simpson: Placed on IR
Simpson (hamstring) reverted to injured reserve Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Simpson was waived with an injury designation by the Jets on Saturday, but he moved to IR one day later. The safety will now be forced to miss the entirety of the 2025 campaign unless he's able to reach an injury settlement with the team down the road.

Jaylin Simpson: Signs to Indy practice squad
Simpson was signed to the Indianapolis practice squad, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Indy's 2024 fifth-round draft pick may get time on the practice squad to develop as a cornerback as he was a safety in college. Given Indy's lack of new talent in the secondary, he could get a chance in a regular-season game at some point.

Colts' Jaylin Simpson: Waived by Indianapolis
Simpson was waived by the Colts.
It's a bit surprising that the Colts would give up so quickly on a 2024 fifth-round draft pick, but the team was confident in the returning secondary with JuJu Brents and Dallis Flowers both healthy. He's a candidate to sign with the practice squad.

Colts' Jaylin Simpson: Fifth-round target for Indy
The Colts selected Simpson in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 164th overall.
Simpson is listed as a safety but at 6-feet, 179 pounds he's tiny even by cornerback standards. With that said, the Auburn product also boasts athletic testing that grades highly by cornerback standards. Simpson's 4.45-second 40-yard dash and 39.5-inch vertical will definitely play at corner, and the same is true of his outstanding reach (32 and 3/8-inch arms). Perhaps Simpson is a bit of a project for the Colts, but these are raw materials that can clearly refine into something useful with a little luck.
