Lions' Jack Campbell: Signs four-year extension
Campbell is signing a four-year, $81 million extension with the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Lions declined Campbell's fifth-year option for 2027 ($21.9 million) and now will keep him around long term on a deal that likely lands much softer on the 2027 cap sheet. He now deservedly ranks among the highest-paid off-ball LBs in the NFL, coming off a 2025 campaign with 176 tackles, including 5.0 sacks, four pass defenses, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Campbell hasn't missed a game since the Lions took him 28th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Lions' Jack Campbell: Fifth-year option declined
The Lions declined Campbell's fifth-year option Tuesday, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports.
Campbell is coming off the most productive season of his career, logging 176 tackles (89 solo), including 5.0 sacks, but that seemingly wasn't enough to convince Detroit to exercise his option. The 25-year-old will now play out the final year of his rookie deal during the 2026 campaign and look to earn a contract extension.

Lions' Jack Campbell: Logs six tackles vs. Minnesota
Campbell posted six tackles (two solo) during the Lions' 23-10 loss to the Lions on Thursday.
Campbell played every single defensive snap and finished tied with Aidan Hutchinson as the Lions' second-leading tacklers behind Daniel Thomas (seven). Campbell's six stops were a season low and broke a three-game streak of 10-plus tackles, but it's still been a productive campaign for the third-year pro out of Iowa. He has accumulated 165 combined tackles through 16 regular-season games, which is second most in the NFL behind Jordyn Brooks (169).
