  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Clears protocol ahead of Week 3

Bagent (concussion) cleared the NFL's concussion protocol Sunday and doesn't have a designation for Monday's game against the Eagles.

With Caleb Williams already ruled out for Week 3 due to a hamstring injury and facing a lengthier absence than that, Chicago now has a decision to make between Bagent and 38-year-old Case Keenum as to who will start Monday. Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports that the team has yet to make a call between the two, but Bagent's ability to clear the protocol for head injuries gives him a chance to be under center this week, even if Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported on "Fox NFL Sunday" that he will be the backup.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Will serve in backup role Monday

Bagent, who is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Eagles, cleared concussion protocol Sunday and will serve as the Bears' No. 2 quarterback in Week 3, Jay Glazer reported on "Fox NFL Sunday."

With Caleb Williams sitting out Monday due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain that's expected to keep him out for multiple weeks, Bagent had been the next man up to start at quarterback. However, after coming on in relief of the injured Williams in last Sunday's loss to the Vikings, Bagent entered concussion protocol following that game and was held out of the Bears' first two practices of Week 3. Bagent returned to the field Saturday as a limited participant before being cleared by an independent neurologist Sunday, but because he didn't have much involvement in the game plan this week, the Bears will turn to third-stringer Case Keenum to start Monday. Unless Keenum performs better than anticipated against a strong Eagles defense, Bagent will likely draw the start Week 4 versus the Jets.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Listed as questionable Monday

Bagent (concussion) was a full participant in Saturday's practice but is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Eagles.

Bagent progressed enough through the league's concussion protocol to participate in Saturday's practice without limitations. However, he'll need to be symptom free over the next couple of days and pass an evaluation by an independent neurologist before being cleared to play. Caleb Williams (hamstring) has already been ruled out, so if Bagent cannot play, then Case Keenum would be the Bears' starting quarterback Monday.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Cleared to practice Saturday

Bagent (concussion) will be back at practice Saturday after progressing through the league's concussion protocol, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.

With Bagent back on the field after missing practice time earlier in the week, Chicago regains depth at quarterback. His return is a welcome one for the Bears given that Caleb Williams is rehabbing from a hamstring injury, though Adam Schefter of ESPN notes that Bagent needs to go consecutive days without symptoms before being fully cleared to play. If Bagent is given the green light to play and Williams is ruled out, then the former would start against Philadelphia while Case Keenum serves as the backup.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Sits out Friday's practice

Bagent (concussion) didn't take part in practice Friday.

The Bears placed Bagent in the concussion protocol Tuesday, and he remained away from the team's facility until Friday, when he rejoined his teammates, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN. It's a sign of progress as Bagent makes his way through the protocol, but his lack of activity indicates he's trending toward not being available Monday against the Eagles. Both No. 1 QB Caleb Williams and Bagent have been listed DNPs so far this week, and if neither player is cleared to play Week 3, Case Keenum will get the call under center for Chicago.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Listed DNP on Thursday

Bagent (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's practice estimate.

The same can be said for Caleb Williams (hamstring), who is in danger of missing the first game of his pro career. Bagent himself entered the concussion protocol Tuesday and wasn't present at the Bears' facility Wednesday, indicating he's a long shot to be available Monday versus the Eagles. As things currently stand, neither Williams nor Bagent has been ruled out for Week 3 action, but veteran Case Keenum seems to be shaking up as the starter for that contest.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: No practice Wednesday

Coach Ben Johnson said Bagent (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.

Bagent was placed in concussion protocol Tuesday and isn't at the Bears' facility Wednesday as a result, making it unlikely that he's a candidate to be available for Monday's game against the Eagles. No. 1 QB Caleb Williams also isn't practicing Wednesday due to the strained right hamstring he suffered this past Sunday versus the Vikings. As the healthiest QB on the active roster, veteran Case Keenum is working with the first-team offense at Wednesday's unofficial session.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Enters concussion protocol

Bagent was diagnosed with a concussion and placed in the five-step protocol Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

With Caleb Williams viewed as week-to-week after suffering a hamstring injury in the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Vikings, Bagent was the leading candidate to start Monday against the Eagles. However, his availability for Week 3 is suddenly up in the air. Third-stringer Case Keenum is left as the only healthy quarterback on the roster and would start against the Eagles if neither Williams nor Bagent is cleared to play.

  • Bears' Tyson Bagent: Needed in relief Sunday

Bagent completed five of nine passes for 54 yards in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Vikings.

Starting QB Caleb Williams left the game in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury, forcing Bagent into action on a wet and windy day at Soldier Field. The Bears will have a better idea of Williams' status after further testing, and they do get an extra day to prepare for a Monday night game at home against the Eagles in Week 3, but Bagent stands a good chance of getting the start for that contest with Case Keenum as his backup.
