Jaguars' Travis Hunter: Getting more work at CB vs. WR
Hunter spent the last two weeks of training camp primarily at cornerback, while logging only occasional snaps at wide receiver, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
After his rookie 2025 season came to an abrupt end after Week 7 due to an isolated LCL injury in his right knee, Hunter still was expected to play both wide receiver and cornerback in 2026, but the breakdown of reps between the two wasn't entirely clear until the Jaguars posted their first unofficial depth chart of training camp. Therein, he was listed as a starting CB and reserve WR, and his practice reps trended in that direction as August went on. It's thus unclear what kind of role Hunter can expect on offense to begin the campaign, especially in a position group that rosters Brian Thomas, Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers (hand) and rookie sixth-rounders Josh Cameron and C.J. Williams.

Jaguars' Travis Hunter: Doesn't play Friday
Hunter did not play in the Jaguars' 34-17 preseason loss to the Panthers on Friday.
Hunter was joined by wide receivers Brian Thomas, Jakobi Meyers (hand) and Parker Washington on the sidelines for Friday's exhibition contest, which meant rookie sixth-rounders Josh Cameron and C.J. Williams were listed as the Jaguars' starting wideouts. Hunter has been listed as a backup WR and starting cornerback on the initial preseason depth chart, but he may not see much playing time on offense if both Cameron and Williams continue to impress the coaching staff in training camp and games. The Jaguars wrap up their preseason slate this Friday against the Buccaneers.

Jaguars' Travis Hunter: Listed as backup at WR, starter at CB
Hunter is listed as a starting cornerback and second-string wide receiver on Jacksonville's initial preseason depth chart, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports that Hunter has played 96 snaps on defense and 61 on offense in 11-on-11s during the open portions of practice. The team hasn't been shy about the expectation that Hunter will take on a far larger defensive workload this season, but there's still rampant debate in fantasy circles about his usage on offense. His role on that side of the ball may depend in part on the health of Jacksonville's other wide receivers, namely Parker Washington, Brian Thomas and Jakobi Meyers.

Jaguars' Travis Hunter: Won't need to know entire playbook
Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Hunter won't need to know the entire offensive playbook this year, instead focusing on the 'X' and 'F' receiver positions, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
That's not a great sign in terms of the playing-time projection on offense, but this does give Hunter a better chance to actually play well on whatever snaps he gets. Coen acknowledged that it was "a little much last year" for Hunter to try to master the offensive playbook while also learning some of the defense. This year, Hunter is taking most of his snaps on defense during training camp -- in part because the Jaguars appear in good shape at WR with Parker Washington, Brian Thomas and Jakobi Meyers.

Jaguars' Travis Hunter: Feeling fit and fast
Hunter (knee) said Friday that he has put on 10 pounds of muscle and is running 21-22.5 miles per hour, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
Hunter seems to be progressing well in his recovery from season-ending LCL surgery, and he has mixed into some team drills at practice, playing mostly with the defense at cornerback while occasionally mixing in with the offense at wide receiver. The second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft said he feels lighter on his feet as a result of the added muscle and that he's hoping to reach 23 miles per hour, which would put him in elite top-speed territory alongside the likes of Tyreek Hill (knee).

Jaguars' Travis Hunter: Practicing at training camp
Hunter (knee) is participating in Wednesday's training camp session, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Hunter is taking his first individual reps on defense, Shipley reports. The 2025 first-rounder is likely to be eased in during the early portion of camp, as he's working his way back from season-ending LCL surgery, but there doesn't appear to be any concerns about his status for Week 1 at this stage. Hunter is expected to be utilized at both wide receiver and cornerback in 2026.
